Objectives
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
THE COURSE AIMS TO DEEPEN THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF MORAL PHILOSOPHY BOTH FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF ETHICAL THEORY (METAETHICS) AND FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF NORMATIVE THEORIES.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL:
- WILL DEEPEN THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE DISCIPLINARY FOUNDATIONS OF MORAL PHILOSOPHY AND ITS MAIN AUTHORS.
- HE/SHE WILL PERFECT THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE HISTORICAL DIMENSION OF THE PROBLEMS OF MORAL PHILOSOPHY THAT WILL MAKE HIM/HER ABLE TO ORIENT HIM/HERSELF IN THE DIFFERENT THEMATIC FIELDS OF ETHICAL THEORY AND NORMATIVE ETHICS.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- APPLY THE THEORETICAL PRINCIPLES OF ETHICS TO CONCRETE CASES
- EXAMINE WITH SOME ATTENTION TO DETAIL THE STRENGTH OF THE ARGUMENTS PROPOSED BY DIFFERENT AUTHORS.
- ELABORATE A TIMELY CRITIQUE OF BOTH THE VARIOUS THEORIES AND THEIR PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS AND POSSIBLY DEVELOP PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO
- EVALUATE MORE PRECISELY THE CORRECTNESS OF THE ARGUMENTS PRESENTED IN FAVOR OF NORMATIVE PRINCIPLES.
- SELECT ARGUMENTS AND REASONS THAT CAN HELP PRODUCE A PERSONAL AND ORIGINAL POSITION WITH PRECISE AND DETAILED ARGUMENTATION
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- FIND EQUIVALENTS IN ITALIAN OF DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC TERMS FOUND IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES;
- REPRESENT AND COMMUNICATE, THROUGH TEXTS OR VIRTUAL TOOLS, RESULTS OF THEIR OWN RESEARCH OR ELABORATIONS, PRESENTING THEM POSSIBLY ALSO THROUGH THE ELABORATION OF MENTAL EXPERIMENTS.

THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO
- USE TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS AND COMPUTER RESOURCES;
- CARRY OUT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES, UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET THE FUNDAMENTAL TEXTS OF THE DISCIPLINE, DEFINE THE CRITERIA FOR SELECTING AND EVALUATING THE DIFFERENT BIBLIOGRAPHIC SOURCES;
- PROCEED TO THE CONTINUOUS UPDATING OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE, USING THE TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE.

THE TEST CONSISTS OF AN ORAL EXAMINATION AIMED AT VERIFYING THE STUDENT'S PREPARATION AND ABILITY TO USE THE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT IN THE FIELD OF MORAL PHILOSOPHY. DURING THE INTERVIEW THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE IN A CLEAR AND UNEQUIVOCAL WAY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE OF CONTENT AND METHODOLOGY WILL BE EVALUATED.
