Objectives
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
TO INTRODUCE THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS OF THE DISCIPLINE OF AESTHETICS, PROVIDING THE LINES OF DEVELOPMENT, METHODS, AND PROBLEMS, THROUGH AN ANALYSIS OF THE COMPLEX SPACE OF FEELING AND THE WAY IN WHICH THE LATTER FINDS ITS FORM OF EXPRESSION IN ART AS IMAGE, ACCORDING TO THE PERSPECTIVE IN WHICH ART TURNS OUT TO BE A STRATEGY OF KNOWLEDGE MARKED BY ITS OWN MODES.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
PROVIDE THE TOOLS TO ORIENT THEMSELVES IN THE CURRENT PHILOSOPHICAL DEBATE, PAYING PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE MOST EXQUISITELY AESTHETIC ISSUES.
THE STUDENT
- WILL KNOW A THEME, OR AN AUTHOR, OR A WORK OF THE AESTHETIC TRADITION THROUGH THE READING OF SPECIFIC TEXTS CONTEXTUALIZED WITHIN THE TRADITION.
- WILL UNDERSTAND THE SPECIFIC ROLE OF THE THEME, THE AUTHOR OR THE WORK OBJECT OF THE COURSE IN THE GENERAL PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTION.
- WILL UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SPECIFIC TEXTS AND THE TEXTUAL PRODUCTION OF THE PHILOSOPHICAL-CULTURAL CONTEXT.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO
- INTERPRET THE FUNDAMENTAL TEXTS OF THE HISTORY OF AESTHETICS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE MORE GENERAL PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTION
- COMPARE THE RESULTS OF AESTHETIC REFLECTION IN DIFFERENT ERAS
- ELABORATE AUTONOMOUSLY A HISTORICAL-CRITICAL PATH WITHIN THE DISCIPLINE.

- CRITICALLY EVALUATE THE CONTENT OF COMPLEX TEXTS.

- SELECT CONCEPTUAL AND ARGUMENTATIVE STRUCTURES USEFUL FOR UNDERSTANDING THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD.

THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO
- CARRY OUT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES, UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX SCIENTIFIC-HUMANISTIC TEXTS;
- PROCEED TO THE CONTINUOUS UPDATING OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE, USING TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE.

THE COURSE AIMS TO ACCOUNT FOR THE DECONSTRUCTION OF THE NOTION OF "METAPHOR" ELABORATED WITHIN THE PHILOSOPHICAL DISCOURSE IN OPPOSITION TO THE NOTION OF "PROPER SENSE", ESSENTIAL FOR THE METAPHYSICAL DEFINITION OF TRUTH. THROUGH THE READING OF THE TEXTS THAT JACQUES DERRIDA HAS DEDICATED TO THIS DECONSTRUCTION, THE MAIN STAGES - FROM ARISTOTLE TO RICOEUR, PASSING THROUGH NIETZSCHE AND HEGEL - OF THE PHILOSOPHICAL ELABORATION OF THE NOTION OF "METAPHOR" WILL BE EXAMINED IN ORDER TO DETECT ITS CONCEPTUAL TIGHTNESS.
Teaching Methods
READING, COMMENTARY AND DISCUSSION OF THE TEXTS IN THE PROGRAM. COMPARISON WITH THE MOST SIGNIFICANT INTERPRETATIONS.
Verification of learning
THE TEST CONSISTS OF AN ORAL EXAMINATION AIMED AT VERIFYING THE PREPARATION OF THE STUDENT AND THE ABILITY TO USE THE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT IN THE FIELD OF AESTHETICS. DURING THE INTERVIEW WILL BE EVALUATED THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE IN A CLEAR AND UNAMBIGUOUS WAY THE CONTENT AND METHODOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED.
