Objectives
I. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE THEMES PROPOSED IN THE COURSE: ANALYSIS OF THE FUNDAMENTAL MOMENTS IN THE HISTORY OF AESTHETIC REFLECTION, IDENTIFIED AS THE AREA OF DEVELOPMENT OF A COGNITIVE PROCESS LINKED TO THE UNDERSTANDING AND CRITICAL EVALUATION OF THE SENSITIVE DIMENSION OF EXPERIENCE (PHILOSOPHIES OF PERCEPTION) AND THEREFORE OF THE ARTISTIC PHENOMENON AS ITS EXEMPLARY MOMENT (PHILOSOPHIES AND THEORIES OF THE ARTS).
II. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE STUDENT WILL APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO PARTICULAR CASES RELATED TO THE ARTISTIC PRODUCTION OF THE PERIOD UNDER EXAMINATION.

THIS TEACHING IS SPECIFICALLY AIMED AT SPECIFIC THEMATIC, METHODOLOGICAL AND/OR MONOGRAPHIC INSIGHTS INTO THE DISCIPLINE.
II. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE STUDENT WILL APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO PARTICULAR CASES RELATED TO THE ARTISTIC PRODUCTION OF THE PERIOD UNDER EXAMINATION.
Prerequisites
THE COURSE ASSUMES THE KNOWLEDGE OF AN ADEQUATE UNDERSTANDING OF THE BASIC PHILOSOPHICAL LEXICON.
Contents
THE COURSE AIMS TO INVESTIGATE THE GENESIS AND THE MAIN EVOLUTIONARY STAGES OF AESTHETICS AS AN AUTONOMOUS DISCIPLINE, DEEPENING THE MOST GENERAL PHILOSOPHICAL IMPLICATIONS LINKED TO THE INTRODUCTION OF THIS DISCIPLINARY CONTEXT AND IT AND PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTIONS AROUND BEAUTY, SUBLIME AND THE IMAGE. PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE DEDICATED TO THE THINKING OF A. G. BAUMGARTEN, PHILOSOPHER WHO FIRST WILL USE THE TERM 'AESTHETICS' TO REFER TO A 'SCIENCE OF SENSITIVE KNOWLEDGE'.
Teaching Methods
READING, COMMENTING AND DISCUSSION OF IN-DEPTH TEXTS AND RELATED TO THE HISTORICAL AND THEMATIC CONTEXTUALIZATION OF THE COURSE TEXTS.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF AN ORAL EXAM AIMING TO ASSESS THE STUDENT’S CAPACITY AND SUITABILITY TO DEPLOY THEIR SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT IN THE FIELD OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF ARTS. IN COURSE OF THE TEST THE STUDENT’S ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE CLEARLY AND UNAMBIGUOUSLY THEIR ACQUIRED METHODOLOGICAL AND INFORMATIONAL KNOWLEDGE WILL BE EVALUATED.
