THE COURSE AIMS TO ILLUSTRATE THE POLITICAL-INSTITUTIONAL, RELIGIOUS, AND CULTURAL EVOLUTION OF THE MODERN AGE FROM THE END OF THE MEDIEVAL WORLD TO THE THRESHOLD OF INDUSTRIAL AND MASS SOCIETY. IN PARTICULAR, THE COURSE AIMS TO STIMULATE A REFLECTION ON THE BIRTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE CONCEPT OF MODERNITY THAT PROMOTED THE REDISCOVERY OF CLASSICAL VALUES, THE RIGHT TO POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE, THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE MODERN STATE AND THE FORMULATION OF THE RIGHTS OF CITIZENS AND PEOPLES. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES: KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION THE STUDENT WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY: - TO KNOW THE VARIOUS PHASES OF THE HISTORICAL PERIODIZATION OF THE MODERN AGE; - TO KNOW THE PHASES OF THE POLITICAL, INSTITUTIONAL, RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL EVOLUTION OF THE MODERN AGE; - TO KNOW THE SPECIFIC METHODOLOGIES AND INSTRUMENTS OF THE HISTORICAL RESEARCH; - TO UNDERSTAND THE PATHS, TIMES AND TOOLS OF MODERNITY ON THE ANTHROPOLOGICAL, SOCIOLOGICAL AND POLITICAL LEVEL. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION THE STUDY OF THE DISCIPLINE WILL ALLOW THE STUDENT TO: - CONTEXTUALIZE THE EVENTS OF THE MODERN AGE, ILLUSTRATE ITS INTERNAL RELATIONS, COMPARING THEM WITH OTHER ASPECTS OF CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION; - APPLY THE METHODOLOGIES ACQUIRED TO ANALYZE CONTEMPORARY EVENTS IN RELATION TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORICAL EVENTS OF THE PAST; - CRITICALLY COMPARE THE PATHS OF MODERNITY IN THE DIFFERENT EUROPEAN AND NON-EUROPEAN REALITIES DURING THE MODERN AGE. |
