Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO GIVE TO THE STUDENTS THE FUNDAMENTALS ON MECHANICS, THERMODYNAMICS AND MEASUREMENT THEORY, THROUGH LESSONS AND LABORATORY EXERCISES.
THE STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND SOLVE PROBLEMS INVOLVING FORCES, MOTION, ENERGY, HEAT AND TEMPERATURE, AND REALIZE SIMPLE LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS IN MECHANICS AND THERMODYNAMICS USING LABORATORY INSTRUMENTATION AND ANALYZING THE RESULTS USING PHYSICAL MODELS AND STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES.

IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND AND APPLY THE SUBJECTS , IT IS

ARCHAEOMETRY: WHY PHYSICAL TECHNIQUES? DESTRUCTIVE AND NON-DESTRUCTIVE TECHNIQUES (4 H).
GENERAL PHYSICS: ELEMENTS OF ATOMIC PHYSICS, ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION, X RAYS AND DIFFRACTION (4 H), SPECTROSCOPY AND MASS SPECTROMETRY (4 H).
ELEMENTS OF NUCLEAR PHYSICS, ISOTOPES,NUCLEAR REACTION,RADIOACTIVITY (8 H).
SOLID STATE, LATTICE AND ITS PROPERTIES, ATOMIC STRUCTURE OF SOLIDS, IMPURITIES (4 H).
PHYSICAL TECHNIQUES: X-RAY FLUORESCENCE. ION BEAM ANALYSIS. PIXE, PIGE (4 H). DATING METHODS: RADIOCARBON (STANDARD AND AMS),THERMOLUMINESCENCE (4H). STABLE ISOTOPES FOR DIETARY RECONSTRUCTION. MICROCLIMATE ANALYSIS (4 H).
EXERCISES (12 H) AND APPLICATIONS (12 H)
Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING INCLUDES THEORETICAL FRONTAL LECTURES OF 32 HOURS (4 CFU) TO WHICH ARE FLANKED OTHER 24 HOURS OF CLASSROOM EXERCISES
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES IS VERIFIED BY THE PASSING OF AN EXAMINATION WITH EVALUATION IN THIRTIETHS. THE EXAMINATION INCLUDES A WRITTEN AND AN ORAL TEST.
THE WRITTEN TEST IS PREPARATORY TO THE ORAL ONE AND CONSISTS IN WRITING A WRITTEN ESSAY HAVING AS ITS THEME A SUBJECT OF THE TEACHING CHOSEN BY A PROPOSED ROSE AND TO DELIVER A WEEK BEFORE THE PLANNED ORAL TEST.
THE ORAL TEST CONSISTING OF AN INTERVIEW WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CONTENT OF THE WRITTEN WORD AND THE TOPICS OF THE TEACHING PROGRAMME.
THE EXAM WITH THE MINIMUM 18/30 SCORE IS EXCEEDED IF THE STUDENT PRESENTS A SUFFICIENT WRITTEN PROCESS AND DEMONSTRATES TO KNOW ABOUT AT LEAST TWO TECHNIQUES. REPRESENTED DURING THE COURSE, AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE PHYSICAL PRINCIPLES THAT ARE AT THE BASE.
THE MAXIMUM 30/30 SCORE IS REACHED WITH A GOOD WRITTEN / EXCELLENT WRITING WITH DISCUSSION AND KNOWLEDGE OF AT LEAST FOUR TECHNIQUES WITH THE PHYSICAL PRINCIPLES THAT ARE AT THE BASE.
LAUD IS OBTAINED IF THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES TO KNOW WHICH TECHNIQUE IS USED ON THE BASIS OF THE TYPE OF FIND AND THE INFORMATION THAT WE WANT TO HAVE
