Objectives
TEACHING INTENDS TO PROVIDE A SOLID BASIC CULTURE UNDER THE GENERAL BOTANY TO ACQUIRE ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE THAT ALLOWS THE STUDENT TO UNDERSTAND THE BASIC PROCESSES THAT ARE REALIZED TO THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION OF THE LIVING BEING. THESE KNOWLEDGES WILL BE ESSENTIAL AND NECESSARY TO FACE THE NEW AND SUCCESSIVE TEACHINGS, AND / OR THE COURSES DIRECTLY RELATED TO ENVIRONMENTAL AND NATURAL SCIENCES.
Prerequisites
THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ACQUIRED BASIC KNOWLEDGE IN THE FIELD OF BOTANY, ZOOLOGY, MICROBIOLOGY, INORGANIC AND ORGANIC CHEMISTRY PROVIDED BY THE HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

V) MECHANISMS OF EVOLUTION (4H);
VI) ENERGY, ENZYMES AND METABOLISM (4H);
VII) PHOTOSYNTHESIS (4H);
VIII) EVOLUTION AND BIODIVERSITY (4H);
IX) PLANT BIOLOGY (8H);
X) BIOLOGY OF ANIMALS (8H);
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES 68 HOURS OF TEACHING AND IS STRUCTURED IN FRONTAL THEORETICAL LESSONS AND LABORATORY ACTIVITIES. THE THEORETICAL LESSONS ON ALL THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE WILL BE HELD IN THE CLASSROOM. FOR THE LABORATORY ACTIVITIES THE STUDENTS WILL BE DIVIDED INTO GROUPS (MAXIMUM 30-35 STUDENTS PER GROUP) TO ALLOW THEM TO PARTECIPATE TO 3 GUIDED EXERCISES OF 2 HOURS EACH, AIMED AT CONDUCTING INDEPENDENT OBSERVATIONS OF EUCARIOTAL CELLS AND TISSUES USING OPTICAL MICROSCOPY. THERE WILL ALSO BE A GUIDED EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO A BOTANICAL GARDEN (GARDENS OF THE MINERVA OF SALERNO AND / OR BOTANICAL GARDEN OF NAPLES).

ATTENDANCE OF CLASSROOM LESSONS AND PRACTICAL EXERCISES IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES OF TEACHING COURSE WILL BE VERIFIED BY A TEST. THIS TEST CONSTISTS ON: I) A WRITTEN TEST, BASED ON QUESTIONS WITH MULTIPLE ANSWERS (15); II) AN ORAL TEST, AIMED TO EVALUATE THEIR ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE REGARDING THE TOPICS PROPOSED BY THE TEACHER DURING THE COURSE.
THE FINAL GRADE WILL BE EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS.

THE MINIMUM MARK FOR PASSING THE EXAM IS 18/30, AND IS AWARDED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF BASIC BIOLOGY (E.G., PROKARYOTIC AND EUKARYOTIC CELL STRUCTURE AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PLANT AND ANIMAL CELLS, CELL CYCLE, METABOLISM , ETC).
THE MAXIMUM VOTE (30) IS AWARDED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A COMPLETE AND IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF GENERAL BIOLOGY AND IS ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE MASTERY IN THE DISCUSSION OF THE PROGRAM TOPICS USING AN ADEQUATE LEXICON.

PRAISE MAY BE ATTRIBUTED TO STUDENTS WHO REACH THE MAXIMUM VOTE OF 30/30 AND WHO SHOW TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS WITH ADEQUATE TECHNICAL-SCIENTIFIC LEXICON THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ACQUIRED.
