Objectives | |

TO GIVE ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE OF ORGANIC SYNTHESIS, WITH A SPECIAL FOCUS ON THE MAIN STRATEGIES OF ASYMMETRIC SYNTHESIS, THROUGH EXAMPLES OF THE MORE SIGNIFICANT METHODOLOGIES. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: BY THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL HAVE ACQUIRED EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN STRATEGIES AND METHODS OF ASYMMETRIC ORGANIC SYNTHESIS, INCLUDING SOME MODERN METHODOLOGIES IN THIS FIELD OF STUDY. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE TO SOLVE PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE ENANTIOSELECTIVE SYNTHESIS OF COMPLEX ORGANIC MOLECULES. MAKING JUDGEMENTS: STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO DEVELOP CRITICAL THINKING ABOUT CONTENTS, THROUGH QUESTIONS AND DEBATES ABOUT THE TOPICS COVERED. COMMUNICATION ABILITIES: STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO INTERACT WITH THE TEACHER, ASKING AND ANSWERING QUESTIONS DURING THE LESSONS. IN THE FINAL ASSESSMENT THE STUDENT IS ASKED TO SOLVE A SYNTHETIC PROBLEM AND ORALLY EXPLAIN THE RELATED TOPIC. CAPACITIES TO CONTINUE LEARNING: THE GENERAL CONCEPTS LEARNED WILL BE USEFUL TO ADDRESS SPECIFIC PROBLEMS AND TOPICS OF ADVANCED ORGANIC SYNTHESIS NOT DIRECTLY TREATED DURING THE COURSE. |
