Objectives
The course aims to introduce students to the foundations of General Relativity and Cosmology, emphasizing both geometric aspects and applications.
Prerequisites
Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Special Relativity, Lagrangian and Hamiltonian Dynamics, Quantum Mechanics.
Contents
The Galileo-Einstein Equivalence Principle, The General Covariance Principle, The geodesic equations, the Einstein field equations, The Schwarzschild solution, the precession of Mercury perihelion, the deflection of light in a gravitational field, Black Holes, gravitational waves, Relativistic Cosmology.
