STARTING FROM THE FUNDAMENTALS OF BUILDING ENVELOPE AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DESIGN, THE GOAL OF THIS COURSE IS FIRST OF ALL THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MOST MODERN TECHNIQUES AND TECHNOLOGIES USED FOR ENERGY SAVING IN BUILDING WITH RESPECT TO THE INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY. IN THE SECOND INSTANCE, THE COURSE PROVIDES ALL THE ELEMENTS NEEDED TO EVALUATE THE ENERGY NEEDS OF THE BUILDING-PLANT SYSTEM FOR BOTH NEW AND EXISTING BUILDINGS. THE STUDENT MUST ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE ENERGY DESIGN OF THE ENVELOPE-HVAC PLANT SYSTEM AND THE RELATED TECHNICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. HE MUST LEARN THE NORMATIVE AND LEGISLATIVE TOOLS FOR BUILDING ENERGY EFFICIENCY, FOR UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED AND THEIR PRIORITIES, AND ACQUIRE THE METHOD OF CALCULATING THE ENERGY PERFORMANCE OF A BUILDING, BOTH NEW AND EXISTING. THE STUDENT MUST ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION TECHNIQUES FOR DETERMINING THE INDOOR THERMAL QUALITY AND INDOOR AIR QUALITY ENVIRONMENT AND MUST LEARN TO ELABORATE THE ENERGY CERTIFICATION OF A BUILDING. FINALLY, THE STUDENT MUST LEARN HOW TO WORK IN GROUPS AND TO EXPLAIN AND SYNTHESIZE THE TOPICS RELATED TO BUILDING ENERGY DESIGN AND GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY, DEMONSTRATING THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO CONTEXTS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE TO DEEPEN THE TOPICS DEALT WITH USING MATERIALS OTHER THAN THOSE PROPOSED. |

THEORETICAL LESSONS AND CLASSROOM AND LABORATORY EXERCISES ARE PROVIDED. CLASSROOM EXERCISES ARE FOCUSED ON WALL'S THERMO-HYGROMETRIC VERIFICATION WITH REFERENCE TO GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY. IN LABORATORY THE STUDENTS LEARN TO PERFORM MEASUREMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PARAMETERS (FOR THERMAL COMFORT EVALUATION) AND DAMPNESS. |
