Objectives
THE COURSE IS ADDRESSED TO THE LEARNING OF THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE APPLIED THERMODYNAMICS AND HEAT TRANSFER.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF PHYSICS (MECHANICS)
Contents
THERMODYNAMICS: BASIC CONCEPTS AND DEFINITIONS, MASS CONTINUITY EQUATION, FIRST AND SECOND LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS FOR MASS AND VOLUME CONTROL SYSTEMS, PROPERTIES OF PURE SUBSTANCES, PSYCHROMETRY, FUNDAMENTALS OF HVAC SYSTEMS.
HEAT TRANSFER: OVERVIEW, CONDUCTION FOR STATIONARY 1-D PLANE GEOMETRY SYSTEMS, FUNDAMENTALS OF CONVECTION AND RADIATION, COMBINED MECHANISMS.

FRONTAL THEORETICAL LECTURES AND CLASSROM EXERCISES
Verification of learning
THE ASSESSMENT OF THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES WILL BE DONE THROUGH AN WRITTEN AND ORAL EXAMINATION
THE GRADE WILL DEPEND ON THE MATURITY GAINED ON THE COURSE CONTENT, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT:
- THE RESULT OF WRITTEN EXAM, IF PASSED;
- THE MATURITY ACQUIRED IN THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPOSURE;
- THE QUALITY OF THE DISCUSSION;
- THE ABILITY TO DISCUSS BY USING APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY;
- THE KNOWLEDGE OF PRINCIPLES AND LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS, PSYCHROMETRY AND HEAT TRANSFER
- THE ABILITY OF CROSS-CORRELATION BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT TOPICS OF THE COURSE. THE GRADE CUM LAUDE WILL REWARD STUDENTS WHO WILL HAVE FULLY SATISFIED ALL THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS.
