Enrollment Process

To get access to the master’s degree in Electrical Engineering for Digital Energy, the Didactic Regulations require that prospective students must meet specific requirements related to:

  • Curricular disciplines (that is, students must have gained a certain number of credits in specific subject areas).
  • Knowledge of the English language.
  • Background/personal knowledge.

Eligible students and required documents

The Master’s degree is suited for students:

1. Issued with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related Industrial-Information Engineering courses. The list of mandatory required documents is:

  • Bachelor’s degree certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree Declaration of Value issued by the Italian diplomatic or consular representation of the country in which the document was issued or, alternatively, the certificate issued by the Italian ENIC-NARIC center (CIMEA). To obtain the CIMEA Certificate of Verification and/or Certificate of Comparability, you can use the Diplome platform, which is offered entirely in English: https://cimea-diplome.it/. Information about the costs involved is detailed on the platform: https://www.cimea.it/EN/pagina-attestati-di-comparabilita-e-verifica-dei-titoli. Note: this document can be transmitted after you have been issued a VISA.
  • Bachelor’s degree Transcript of Records with marks and number of credits (ECTF or Credit hours) for each course, separately.

2. Issued with at least a B2 CEFR level English Language Certificate by one of the institutions accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education listed here: https://piattaformaenticert.pubblica.istruzione.it/pocl-piattaforma-enti-cert-web/elenco-enti-accreditati. Certificates issued by home University (e.g., Medium of Instruction) or by non-accredited institutions (e.g., Duolinguo) will not be accepted. The mandatory required document is:

  • The B2 CEFR English Certificate.

3. [OPTIONAL] Participating in the UNISA Scholarship call. The call typically opens in April/May and is published on this page: https://web.unisa.it/en/international/announcements/incoming-mobility. The call is a separate and independent procedure from the enrollment. Note: this is not organized by our department. For more information, please ask the International Office. The list of required documents is:

  • Any document required to participate to the call and specified in the call that will be published on the above-mentioned web page.

Enrollment steps

  1. Prepare all the documents mentioned above (see points a-e) plus your identity documents (Passport, CV, etc.).
  2. Perform the pre-enrollment application via the Universitaly portal. No pre-check will be performed before this step. A quick guide can be found here: https://www.universitaly.it/first-steps. Once you are registered on the platform, you have access to the university course catalog. After choosing our Master's degree program, you will be able to upload all the requested documents for evaluation. To speed up the evaluation, please verify that all the documents are present.
  3. Wait for the evaluation of your pre-enrollment application. Applicants who passed the documents check will be automatically invited to sit for the admission test.
  4. Pass the admission test. Below you can find more information about the test. We will notify the Italian Representative abroad that you are admitted to the course.
  5. Take an appointment at the embassy. Note: if at this point you still do not have any of the documents described above at point b (Certificate of Value or CIMEA certificate), then you have to request the Certificate of Value for your Bachelor’s degree and upload it to the Universitaly portal or send it to us via mail.
  6. Monitor the course scheduling and communicate with us about your arrival.
  7. Start the registration on our students’ platform. You will receive information via mail.

The Admission Test

Background/personal knowledge is assessed via an admission test. The specific dates for the test are determined on a yearly basis and are available from the website of the Department in Information and Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics.

The test outcome is determined based on both titles already acquired by students and on a admission test. The minimum score to pass the test is 60 points. As specified in the regulations, the score points – maximum score is 100 – are partitioned as follows:

  • Up to 20 points for the titles related to the prior Academic career.
  • Up to 80 points for the admission test.

Concerning the admission test, which has the goal to assess the level of preparation of prospective students on the curricular disciplines, it consists of some exercises focused on one or more of the topics included in the Syllabus reported at the end of this page. The test will be in the English language.

The upcoming dates for the assessment test are announced:

  • Monday, June 22, 2026
  • Friday, July 3, 2026
  • Friday, September 11, 2026

International Students

Non-EU students interested in the enrolment in our master’s degree course must (mandatorily) register themselves on the Universitaly portal. Once International students will be registered on the above platform, they will be able to access all the information about the university course catalogue.

After choosing the degree/master’s degree program, they will be able to pre-enrol to the program and to upload all documents to be sent to the University for the evaluation. The University will evaluate the applicants. Letter of eligibility is not required but can be uploaded if already issued by the University.

The Italian Representative abroad will start the procedure to issue the visa, only for candidates already accepted by the University.
