Scienze della Formazione Primaria Presentation

The Single-Cycle Master’s Degree Programme in Primary Teacher Education (LM-85bis) was established at the University of Salerno in 2011.

The programme consists of a single five-year course of study designed to promote integrated and interdisciplinary training that addresses current needs and emerging challenges related to childhood and adolescence, as well as to the role of teachers within educational processes.

The programme has a nationally regulated limited admission system and qualifies graduates to teach in both preschool and primary school. Qualification is obtained upon passing the final examination, which includes the defence of a thesis and the presentation of the final teaching practicum report.

The programme aims to provide students with pedagogical, methodological-didactic, and psychological competences, as well as competences related to the disciplinary areas covered by the national curriculum guidelines for both school levels. These include foundational knowledge and operational skills in the fields of language and literature, mathematics, physics and computer science, history and the social sciences, geography, natural and environmental sciences, and artistic, musical, and graphic expression. In addition, the programme seeks to foster competences aimed at supporting the inclusion of pupils with disabilities and/or special educational needs.

In addition to core courses, the study plan includes teaching laboratories (with compulsory attendance) and English language laboratories distributed across the five years of study, aimed at achieving a B2 level of proficiency (with compulsory attendance). These activities take place in appropriately equipped classrooms and libraries provided with digital resources. The programme also includes direct and indirect teaching practicum in schools (with compulsory attendance).

Finally, the educational offer is enriched by numerous cultural events, conferences, study days, and seminars organised by the degree programme and the department.
