Objectives
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES AND SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED:
LEARN, THROUGH THE DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE TECHNIQUES USED IN THE FIELD OF URBAN PLANNING (PARTICIPATION, EQUALIZATION, RISK CONTROL AND PREVENTION, ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT, ETC.),
THE METHODS OF THEIR USE AND THE TECHNICAL-URBAN CONTEXT IN WHICH TO IMPLEMENT THEM (MODULE A); LEARN TO USE THE URBAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL INDICATORS NECESSARY FOR THE MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL OF URBAN AND TERRITORIAL PHENOMENA (MODULE A); ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO MODEL THE TERRITORY ON THE BASIS OF THE THEORETICAL PRINCIPLES THAT GOVERN ITS PHYSICAL AND FUNCTIONAL ORGANIZATION (MODULE B); ACQUIRE, THROUGH THE STUDY OF URBAN PLANNING MODELS AND TECHNIQUES, THE ABILITY TO READ AND WRITE SPECIFIC CONTENTS OF URBAN PLANNING TOOLS (MODULE B); ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO DRAW UP A MUNICIPAL STRUCTURAL PLAN IN ITS RECOGNITION AND STRATEGIC COMPONENT, IN TERMS OF SIZING, TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION AND GRAPHIC REPRESENTATION (MODULE 2).

KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE TERMINOLOGY USED IN THE CONTEXT OF CONCEPTUAL MODELS, AS WELL AS THE METHODOLOGIES AND TECHNIQUES OF URBAN PLANNING (MODULES A AND B).
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
KNOWING HOW TO READ THE TECHNICAL DEVICES OF URBAN PLANNING TOOLS (MODULE A) AND BE ABLE TO DEVELOP TECHNICAL CALCULATIONS FOR THE SIZING OF A STRUCTURAL PLAN, AS WELL AS THE RELATIVE GRAPHIC REPRESENTATION (MODULE B).
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT:
KNOWING HOW TO USE THE MOST APPROPRIATE TECHNIQUES FOR KNOWLEDGE (MODULE A) AND FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF URBAN PLANNING SOLUTIONS BASED ON THE STUDY AREA (MODULE B).

Prerequisites
IN ORDER TO PURSUE THE OBJECTIVES, THE TEACHING REQUIRES BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE NOTIONS OF MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS, HISTORY OF ARCHITECTURE AND ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING.
IT IS MANDATORY TO PASS THE TEACHING OF URBAN PLANNING.

THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS AND RELATED TOPICS.
1) URBAN PLANNING TECHNIQUES: SIZING OF URBAN PLANS; PERFORMANCE OF FACILITIES AND SERVICES (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
2) SYSTEM OF NEEDS AND PARTICIPATION: OBJECTIVES AND FORMS OF PARTICIPATION; PARTICIPATION TECHNIQUES; VISIONING TECHNIQUES (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
3) EQUALIZATION: URBAN EQUALIZATION; MANAGEMENT OF BUILDING CREDITS; TERRITORIAL EQUALIZATION (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
4) EVALUATIONS: ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA); STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (SEA); TECHNICAL-ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF URBAN PLANNING PROGRAMS (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
5) SUSTAINABILITY OF URBAN TRANSFORMATIONS: SUSTAINABILITY INDEX OF THE URBAN INTERVENTION (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
6) TERRITORIAL RISKS AND EMERGENCY PLANNING: DEFINITIONS OF TERRITORIAL RISK AND THE RELATED COMPONENTS OF HAZARD, VULNERABILITY, EXPOSURE (SEISMIC RISK, HYDROGEOLOGICAL RISK, MAJOR ACCIDENT RISK, FOREST RISK, RADON RISK); LEGISLATION AND EVOLUTION OF DISCIPLINARY RULES; PREVENTION OF TERRITORIAL RISKS IN URBAN PLANNING TOOLS; METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE ASSESSMENT OF RISK COMPONENTS; EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND MUNICIPAL EMERGENCY PLAN (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
7) THE AGGLOMERATION PRINCIPLE: ECONOMIES OF LOCALIZATION. THE PRINCIPLE OF HIERARCHY: THEORY OF CENTRAL PLACES; RANK-SIZE RULE; FLOW ANALYSIS (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
8) THE PRINCIPLE OF ACCESSIBILITY: THEORY OF THE ISOLATED STATE (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
9) THE PRINCIPLE OF SPACE INTERACTION: GRAVITATIONAL MODELS (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
10) THE PRINCIPLE OF COMPETITIVENESS: HOYT MODEL; EXPORT-LED MODEL; GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT OF A CITY; LOWRY MODEL; TABLE OF TRANSACTIONS, EXAMPLES AND APPLICATIONS (12 HOURS, OF WHICH 3 HOURS OF PRACTICE).
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES THEORETICAL LESSONS FOR A TOTAL OF 9 CREDITS AND CLASSROOM EXERCISES FOR A FURTHER 3 CREDITS. IN THE EXERCISES IN THE CLASSROOM, THE STUDENTS, DIVIDED INTO WORK GROUPS, ARE ASSIGNED THE TASK OF DEVELOPING A PRELIMINARY MUNICIPAL URBAN PLAN. THE PROJECT IS AIMED AT THE ACQUISITION OF URBAN PLANNING AND ANALYSIS SKILLS.
PARTICIPATION IN FRONTAL TEACHING HOURS IS MANDATORY AND ACCESS TO THE EXAM REQUIRES THE ATTENDANCE OF AT LEAST 70% OF THE LESSON AND EXERCISE HOURS.
Verification of learning
THE EVALUATION OF THE OBJECTIVES ACHIEVEMENT WILL TAKE PLACE THROUGH A FINAL ORAL EXAM, LASTING ABOUT 45 MINUTES.
TO PASS THE EXAM, THE STUDENT MUST DEMONSTRATE THAT HE UNDERSTANDS AND KNOWS HOW TO APPLY THE MAIN CONCEPTS PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE. THE GRADE OF THE EXAM WILL DEPEND ON THE MATURITY ACQUIRED ON THE COURSE CONTENTS, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE QUALITY OF THE ORAL PRESENTATION AND THE PROJECT DEVELOPED.
FOR THE PURPOSES OF AWARDING HONORS, PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE PAID TO THE ABILITY OF CROSS-CORRELATION BETWEEN THE VARIOUS TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT DEMONSTRATED.
