Objectives
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY IS FOCUSED ON THE DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBRYOLOGICAL, HISTOPATHOLOGICAL AND PATHOGENETIC BASIS OF ORAL PATHOLOGIES.
THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENTS WITH THE ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE FOR A METHODOLOGICALLY CORRECT APPROACH TO THE MOST COMMON PATHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS AFFECTING THE ORAL CAVITY, THAT ACCUSTOMS THE STUDENTS TO FOLLOW A SYSTEMATIC DIAGNOSTIC WORKUP, MINIMIZING DIAGNOSTIC ERRORS AND DELAYS.

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE OF FUNDAMENTAL SYMPTOMATOLOGY OF EITHER EPITHELIAL OR ADNEXAL PATHOLOGY OF ORAL AND PERIORAL REGION, FOR A CORRECT CLINICAL APPROACH AND SUBSEQUENT WORK-UP.
AT THE END OF THE TEACHING PROGRAM THE STUDENT WILL:
•BE AWARE OF THE ELEMENTARY LESIONS OF THE ORAL CAVITY AND PERIORAL SKIN,
•BE ABLE TO USE A SPECIFIC SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE,
•BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY LESIONS AFTER OBJECTIVE EXAMINATION, AND, WHEN NEEDED AFTER DERMOSCOPIC OBSERVATION, IN ORDER TO DISCRIMINATE INFECTIOUS, INFLAMMATORY AND NEOPLASTIC DISEASES,
•BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY LESIONS IN THE ORAL CAVITY LINKED TO SKIN DISEASES
•BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY PATIENTS WITH HIGH RISK OF DEVELOPING DYSPLASTIC OR NEOPLASTIC LESION OF THE ORAL OR PERIORAL REGION.
Prerequisites
ACCORDING TO SECTION 10 OF THE PUBLISHED DIDACTIC GUIDELINES.

Teaching Methods
STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE ANAMNESTIC EVALUATION, CLINICAL OBSERVATION, PRO-DIAGNOSIS WORK-UP ORGANISATION, CRITICAL DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS AND THERAPEUTIC OPTIONS CONSIDERATION.
Verification of learning
FINAL EXAMINATION AIMS TO EVALUATE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE STUDENT ON THE CONTENTS KNOWLEDGE, THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE ISSUES ADDRESSED, THE AUTONOMY IN JUDGMENT, THE COMMUNICATION AND NEW LEARNING THE ABILITY.
GREAT CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO THE ABILITY OF THE STUDENT TO PROPOSE A CRITICAL AND SPECULATIVE APPROACH TO CLINICAL PROBLEMS.
