Objectives
STUDENTS WILL LEARN HOW TO EVALUATE, DIAGNOSE AND TREAT THE MOST COMMONLY OBSERVED NEUROLOGICAL DISEASES.
PSYCHIATRY
THE PURPOSE OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE THE BASICS OF PSYCHOPATHOLOGY, SEMIOLOGY, DIAGNOSTICS, AND THERAPEUTICS OF PSYCHIATRIC DISEASES. SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AIMS WILL INCLUDE:
GENERIC KNOWLEDGE OF CULTURAL, HISTORICAL, SCIENTIFIC AND NORMATIVE EVOLUTION OF PSYCHIATRIC ASSISTANCE, NOSOGRAPHY OF PSYCHIATRIC DISORDERS, THEIR ETIOPATHOGENETIC MODELS AND THEIR EPIDEMIOLOGY
EXHAUSTIVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE EVIDENCE-BASED PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY, WITH SPECIFIC REFERENCE TO CRITERIA OF MEDICATION CHOICE, THEIR LONG- AND SHORT-TERM SIDE EFFECTS, TOXICITY IN OVERDOSE AND PHARMACOLOGICAL INTERACTIONS
GENERIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC

KNOWLEDGE OF NEUROIMAGING METHODS AND THE ESSENTIAL NEUROIMAGING FEATURES OF THE MAIN NEUROLOGIC, PSYCHIATRIC AND NEUROSURGICAL DISEASES.

THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN ORAL EXAM AT THE END OF THE COURSE. THE FINAL MARK IS ATTRIBUTED IN THIRTIETHS. THE EXAM IS CONSIDERED PASSED WHEN THE GRADE IS GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 18. IT IS EXPECTED TO BE AWARDED THE HIGHEST MARKS WITH HONORS (30 CUM LAUDE).
