Objectives
THE COURSE IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO ACQUIRE THE LANGUAGE SKILLS AT LEAST B2 LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE, THROUGH THE APPROACH TO THE LANGUAGE AND THE ISSUES OF SPECIALIZED TEXTS. THE COURSE OBJECTIVE IS TO CONSOLIDATE THE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE SPANISH LANGUAGE ACQUIRED PREVIOUSLY AND IS DESIGNED TO FURTHER DEVELOP THE KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH LANGUAGE. THE COURSE ALSO AIMS TO INITIATE THE STUDENTS TO THE STUDY OF THE LINGUISTIC, SOCIAL AND POLITICAL HISTORY OF SPAIN AND OF SOME OF SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES. TO HELP LEARNERS TO IMPROVE THEIR LANGUAGE SKILLS IN SPANISH DEVELOPING UPPER-INTERMEDIATE LINGUISTIC AND COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE, AT LEAST LEVEL B2 OF THE EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES DESIGNED BY THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE. TO OFFER STUDENTS THE TOOLS OF PRAGMATICS, SOCIOLINGUISTICS AND DISCOURSE ANALYSIS FOR A CRITICAL APPROACH TO LANGUAGE, ISSUES AND SPECIALIZED TEXTS, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO MEDIA AND POLITICAL LANGUAGE. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND USE SELF-CONFIDENTLY EVERYDAY EXPRESSIONS AND SPECIALIZED LANGUAGE RELATED TO THE SOCIAL SCIENCES.

SPANISH KNOWLEDGE OF B1 LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE.

THE STUDENT SHOULD BE ABLE TO: USE LANGUAGE ACTIVELY, ALSO BY REFLECTING ON ITS FORMAL STRUCTURE IN ORDER TO DEVELOP A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF IT. SPECIALIZED TERMINOLOGY WILL BE INTRODUCED THROUGH READING AND ANALYZING PIECES OF NEWS FROM SPANISH PRESS, WITH PRIORITY GIVEN TO TEXTS DEALING WITH POLITICS AND SOCIAL TOPICS. AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT SHOULD HAVE ACQUIRED A GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH LANGUAGE SUITABLE FOR THIS LEVEL; BUILT A GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF HISPANIC CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION. THE STUDENT SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE THE LANGUAGE AS A MEANS OF COMMUNICATION; USE FORMAL ELEMENTS PROPERLY. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND EDUCATIONAL, SEMI-SPECIALIZED AND SPECIALIZED TEXTS ON SPANISH LANGUAGE, LINGUISTICS AND SPECIALIZED LANGUAGES. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO COLLECT, UNDERSTAND AND DEVELOP LANGUAGE INFORMATION IN ORDER TO EXPRESS THEIR OWN OPINIONS. COMMUNICATION SKILL; STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE INFORMATION, IDEAS, PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS IN A WELL-SPOKEN MANNER.
Teaching Methods
FACE-TO-FACE LESSONS — 40 HOURS. CLASSES WILL BE TAUGHT IN SPANISH.
Verification of learning
THE EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF A WRITTEN AND AN ORAL PART. PASSING THE WRITTEN PART ENTITLES STUDENTS TO SIT THE ORAL PART.

EXAMINATION FAILURE DURING A SESSION RESULTS IN INELIGIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO RE-SIT EITHER THE WRITTEN OR THE ORAL PART OF THE SAME EXAMINATION DURING THAT SESSION.
