	Objectives
	this course introduces students to the basic concepts and empirical methodologies to analyze the relationships, increasingly remarkable for the quality of the democratic system, between: a. the political processes, i.e the political systems, the parties, the changes in public opinion, and so on, that are the main subject of policial science; b. the policy process, i.e the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of public policies that are the main subject of public policy as a field of study; c. the newsmaking process. through the analysis of these relationships, students gain a better understanding of the many way in which mediatization affects the decisional process.

	Contents
	this teaching course will be articulated in three sections. the first one provides an introduction to fundamental concepts and dynamics concerning this branch of knowledge: political system, party organization, electoral process, policy-making and newsmaking. the second section will focus on the twine between the three processes addressed by the course: political process, policy-making and newsmaking. particularly, the relationship beetween media, politics and public administration will be analysed from a comparative perspective, identifying differences and convergences in different countries (italy, france, uk, usa) and at different institutional levels (regional, national, local). tge third part of the course will consist of laboratory activities aimed to provide students with practical and analytical competences. more in details, students will be engaged in production and discussion of reports, analyses and comments concerning relevant events and facts.
