THE COURSE AIMS TO DEFINE THE PHENOMENON THAT LEADS TO TERRITORIAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, UNDERSTOOD AS A COMPLEX PROBLEM IN WHICH REVERBERATE HISTORICAL, DEMOGRAPHIC, ECONOMIC, CULTURAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL FACTORS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE CONCEPTS AND TOOLS TO UNDERSTAND THE LONG-TERM ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL PROCESSES, IN ORDER TO STIMULATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A CRITICAL CONCEPT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. IN PARTICULAR, WILL BE ANALYZED THE FACTORS OF ACTIVATION AND PROPULSION OF DEVELOPMENT, SUCH AS CAPITAL ACCUMULATION AND ITS USE THROUGH INVESTMENT PROCESSES, THE SELECTION OF TECHNOLOGIES, THE ACTIVITY OF PRIVATE ENTREPRENEURS AND THE STATE. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE COURSE AIMS TO INTEGRATE HISTORICAL-ECONOMIC KNOWLEDGE WITH THE EVIDENCE SUGGESTED BY THE ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY AND THE SOCIOLOGY OF DEVELOPMENT. IN ADDITION, THE COURSE AIMS TO IDENTIFY THE LINKS BETWEEN THE VARIOUS INTERPRETATIONS OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROPOSED BY THE SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE AND SOME SELECTED EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE THROUGH THE DEEPENING OF COUNTRY REPORTS AND DATABASES. |

THE COURSE INCLUDES 40 HOURS OF CLASSROOM TEACHING (WITHOUT COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE). DURING THE LECTURES, THEORETICAL TOPICS WILL BE TACKLED CONSTANTLY ALONGSIDE THE PRESENTATION OF CASE STUDIES AND REPORTS THROUGH WHICH THE METHODS AND CONTEXTS OF USE OF WHAT HAS BEEN EXPLAINED ARE CLARIFIED. FOR SUCH REASON THE EXERCISES AND SEMINARS ARE INTEGRATED INTO THE SCHEDULED LESSONS. FINALLY, WITHIN THE 60 HOURS OF TEACHING AND AT THE END OF EACH MODULE, SOME LESSONS ARE EXCLUSIVELY DEDICATED TO THE DISCUSSION OF REPORTS BY THE STUDENTS. |

THE VERIFICATION OF LEARNING WILL BE CARRIED OUT THROUGH A FINAL ORAL TEST AIMED AT ASSESSING THE KNOWLEDGE AND OPERATIONAL SKILLS ACQUIRED. AT LEAST THREE QUESTIONS WILL BE FORMULATED TO EVALUATE THE KNOWLEDGE AND OPERATIONAL SKILLS. THE MINIMUM LEVEL OF EVALUATION (18) IS ASSIGNED WHEN THE STUDENT HAS A FRAGMENTED KNOWLEDGE OF THE THEORETICAL CONTENTS AND SHOWS A LIMITED ABILITY TO USE THEM IN THE CONTEXT OF THE STUDY. THE MAXIMUM LEVEL (30) IS ASSIGNED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A COMPLETE AND IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE METHODOLOGIES AND TOOLS AND HAS A CONSIDERABLE ABILITY TO USE THEM IN THE CONTEXT OF STUDY. PRAISE IS GIVEN WHEN THE CANDIDATE DEMONSTRATES SIGNIFICANT MASTERY OF METHODOLOGIES AND TOOLS AND SHOWS CONSIDERABLE OWNERSHIP OF LANGUAGE AND AUTONOMOUS PROCESSING SKILLS EVEN IN CONTEXTS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PROPOSED BY THE TEACHER. |
