Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO REINFORCE THE STUDENT'S COMPETENCE IN THE HISTORICAL FIELD AND HIS CAPACITY OF READING AND CONTEXTUALIZING THE HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS. SOME PRIMARY SOURCES ON THEMES SUCH AS THE INVENTION OF THE PRINTING PRESS OR THE AMERICAN AND FRENCH REVOLUTION WILL BE DISCUSSED. SOME LESSONS WILL BE DEDICATED TO HISTORIOGRAPHIC SCHOOLS, FROM THE ANNALES TO THE MICROHISTORY TO THE CULTURAL HISTORY TO THE MOST RECENT APPROACHES, ON THE 'PUBLIC SPHERE' AND THE CIRCULATION OF NEWS.
Prerequisites
IT WOULD BE DESIRABLE IA GOOD, GENERAL KNOWLEDGE IN THE HISTORICAL FIELD.

AFTER A BRIEF INTRODUCTION ON THE HISTORIOGRAPHY AND HOW ITS OBJECTIVES CHANGE OVER TIME; THE COURSE WILL FOCUS ON VARIOUS TYPES OF SOURCES: MANUSCRIPTS, PRINTED, FROM LIBRARIES OR ARCHIVES. THE STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY OF STUDYING SOME OF THE SOURCES THANKS TO WHICH WE KNOW ABOUT CRUCIAL THEMES SUCH AS: THE PRINTING PRESS, THE CENSORSHIP, THE ROLE OF CHURCH IN THE CIRCULATION OF BOOKS; THE FAMILY, THE ECONOMIC THORIES, THE SEVENTEENTH CENTURY REVOLTS AND THE MODERN REVOLUTIONS (WITH THE JURIDICAL DOCUMENTS THAT HAVE PRODUCED). THE KNOWLEDGE OF THEMES, METHODS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE HISTORIOGRAPHICAL SCHOOLS WILL HELP THE STUDENTS TO HAVE MORE AWARENESS AND CURIOSITY IN FRONT OF THE WIDE PATRIMONY OF DOCUMENTS THAT EVERY GENERATION RECEIVES IN HERITAGE FROM THE PAST.
Teaching Methods
THE LESSONS WILL BE FRONTAL; HOWEVER, THERE WILL BE A WRITTEN TEST; IN ONE OF THE LAST LESSONS, THE STUDENTS WILL REPLY TO ANOTHER WRITTEN TEXT (7-9 QUESTIONS). THE FINAL MARK WILL BE THE RESULT FO THESE TESTS BUT ALSO OF THE ORAL EXAM. DURING THE EXAM THE STUDENT WILL SHOW HIS PRACTICAL AND THEORETICAL COMPETENCE IN HIS APPROACH TO THE HISTORICAL SOURCE.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM WILL VERIFY THE STUDENT'S CAPACITY OF COMMENTING ON A HISTORICAL SOURCE AND ILLUSTRATING THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE VARIOUS HISTORIOGRAPHICAL APPROACHES STUDIED. THE MARK WILL BE THE RESULT OF THE WRITTEN TESTS AND OF THE ORAL, FINAL EXAMINATION.
