Objectives
TEACHING AIMS TO ACHIEVE LITERACY AND MINIMAL COMMUNICATIVE MASTERY RELATED TO ONE'S FAMILY AND WORK CONTEXT, THROUGH REFLECTION IN A FRENCH-ITALIAN COMPARATIVE KEY, SUCH AS TO LEAD THE STUDENT TO DEVELOP THE FOUR SKILLS (WRITTEN AND ORAL COMPREHENSION AND PRODUCTION) AT A LEVEL A2/B1 OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE. ABILITY TO APPLY THE RULES LEARNED, BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND BE UNDERSTOOD IN A SIMPLE AND CLEAR WAY. TO BE ABLE TO READ, WITH GOOD PRONUNCIATION, TRANSLATE AND ANALYZE TEXTS FROM THE PROGRAM AND TO BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY APPLIED GRAMMAR RULES AND APPLY THEM INDEPENDENTLY TO SPONTANEOUS PRODUCTIONS OR INDUCED EXERCISES, WITH ELEMENTARY VOCABULARY.
Prerequisites
KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASICS OF FRENCH LANGUAGE AND FRANCOPHONE CULTURES IS HELPFUL BUT NOT ESSENTIAL.

THE APPROACH TO THE BASIC LINGUISTIC STRUCTURES WILL BE PROPOSED THROUGH READING AND TRANSLATION, AS WELL AS GRAMMATICAL, SYNTACTIC AND LEXICAL ANALYSIS OF TEXTS OF PROGRESSIVE DIFFICULTY, AIMED NOT ONLY AT THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE PROPOSED OBJECTIVES, BUT ALSO AT THE KNOWLEDGE OF CERTAIN SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF FRENCH AND FRANCOPHONE CULTURE.
UPON COMPLETION, THE STUDENT OV WILL DEMONSTRATE THAT HE/SHE HAS ACQUIRED:
(A) THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE RULES LEARNED BY KNOWING:
1. UNDERSTAND AND BE UNDERSTOOD IN A SIMPLE AND CLEAR MANNER.
2. READ, WITH TIMELY AND ACCURATE PRONUNCIATION AND TRANSLATE TEXTS FROM THE PROGRAM.
3. IDENTIFY APPLIED GRAMMAR RULES AND APPLY THEM INDEPENDENTLY TO SHORT SPONTANEOUS PRODUCTIONS OR INDUCED EXERCISES.
B) THE ABILITY OF AUTONOMOUS JUDGMENT BEING ABLE TO EXPRESS APPROVAL OR DISAGREEMENT WITH RESPECT TO SIMPLE CONVERSATIONS ON FAMILIAR (SPORTS, INTERESTS, STUDY) AND EVERYDAY TOPICS (POLITICS, HISTORY, LAW, ECONOMICS ETC.).
(C) COMMUNICATION SKILLS SUCH AS:
1. UNDERSTAND AND USE EVERYDAY EXPRESSIONS AND BASIC PHRASES AIMED AT SATISFYING NEEDS OF A CONCRETE TYPE INTRODUCE ONESELF AND OTHERS AND BE ABLE TO ASK AND ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT PERSONAL DETAILS SUCH AS WHERE HE/SHE LIVES, PEOPLE HE/SHE KNOWS AND THINGS HE/SHE OWNS.
2. DESCRIBE PICTURES, DRAWINGS ETC. IN A SIMPLE BUT CORRECT WAY (PHONETICS, VOCABULARY, GRAMMAR, SYNTAX) INTERACT IN A SIMPLE WAY AS LONG AS THE OTHER PERSON SPEAKS SLOWLY AND CLEARLY AND IS WILLING TO COOPERATE.
3. COMMUNICATE SIMPLY EXCHANGES INFORMATION ON FAMILIAR AND COMMON TOPICS.
DESCRIBE IN SIMPLE TERMS ASPECTS OF HIS/HER LIFE, SURROUNDINGS AND EXPRESS IMMEDIATE NEEDS.
PARTICULAR EMPHASIS WILL BE PLACED ON CORRECT PRONUNCIATION, INTONATION, CADENCE, GRAMMAR, SYNTAX, LANGUAGE PROPERTIES AND CONTENT CONSISTENCY OF LANGUAGE CONSTRUCTS.
THE ABILITY TO RECOGNIZE AND DEMONSTRATE THE IMPORTANCE OF THE CORRECT LEARNING OF A EUROPEAN AND WORLD LANGUAGE FOR THE ASSERTION OF ONE'S IDEAS WILL ALSO BE ASSESSED.
FRENCH TYPOGRAPHICAL, PAGE-SETTING AND PUNCTUATION RULES AND THE INCLUSION OF ASCII CHARACTERS INHERENT IN FRENCH SPECIAL CHARACTERS (Â, Ê, Î, Ô, Û, ETC.) ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF LEARNING.
Teaching Methods
TEACHING METHODS.
ANNUAL (END OF SEPTEMBER - END OF MAY): LECTURE.
FIRST SEMESTER : MONOGRAPHIC TEACHING
MONOGRAPHIC TEACHING CONSISTS OF 42 HOURS OF FACE-TO-FACE LECTURES CARRIED OUT IN THE FIRST SEMESTER AND DIVIDED INTO 20 2-HOUR LECTURES DEVOTED TO READING TEXTS, FURTHER STUDY AND GROUP PROJECTWORK.

LECTURESHIPS OR LANGUAGE EXERCISES, HAVE AN ANNUAL COURSE (SEPT-MAY) CONSIST OF 4 HOURS PER WEEK, DIVIDED INTO A BIWEEKLY FREQUENCY. PLUS POSSIBLY 2 HOURS OF REINFORCEMENT, DURING WHICH STUDENTS WILL PRACTICE READING AND DO GRAMMAR AND SYNTAX EXERCISES RELATED TO FIRST-YEAR TOPICS (SEE REFERENCE TEXTS).

POSSIBLE SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES FOR FURTHER STUDY AND SELF-STUDY.

THERE MAY BE ONGOING TESTS CARRIED OUT UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE LECTURER IN CHARGE, THE EVALUATION OF WHICH WILL BE CONSIDERED VALID FOR PARTIAL OR TOTAL EXEMPTION FROM THE FINAL WRITTEN TEST, THE TOPICS OF WHICH MAY REPLACE SOME OR ALL OF THE TOPICS IN THE SYLLABUS (SUBJECT TO AN ACTIVE AND STRONGLY PARTICIPATORY OVERALL ATTENDANCE OF 70% OF THE MONOGRAPH COURSE AND 60% OF THE LECTURE COURSE).

WE ALSO RECOMMEND THE USE OF THE MULTIMEDIA CLASSROOM AT THE UNIVERSITY LANGUAGE CENTER WHERE IT IS POSSIBLE TO MAKE USE OF ONLINE (THROUGH AN APPROPRIATE SITOGRAPHY) AND OFFLINE (THROUGH PURCHASED LANGUAGE SOFTWARE) TEACHING AIDS FOR INDEPENDENT LEARNING.

PLEASE NOTE: ATTENDANCE IS CONSIDERED AS SUCH ONLY IF THE STUDENT ACTIVELY PARTICIPATES IN THE ACTIVITIES, WITH APPROPRIATE INTERVENTIONS AND REGULAR AND PUNCTUAL EXECUTION OF THE TASKS ASSIGNED IN CLASS, CARRIED OUT ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTIONS GIVEN. THE WRITTEN TEST IS PREPARATORY TO THE ORAL AND IS VALID ONLY FOR THE SESSION IN WHICH THE EXAM WAS TAKEN, UNLESS THEY HAVE BEEN PASSED CONDITIONALLY (CTR.: MORE INFORMATION> PASSED TESTS WITH ASTERISKS)..
AN ORAL TEST (ENTIRELY IN FRENCH) LASTING 15-20 MINUTES AND INCLUDING A CONVERSATION OF A
