Objectives
GENERAL LEARNING OUTCOMES:
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE TEACHING IS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE ON CONTEMPORARY COMMUNICATION AND ITS SOCIO-CULTURAL DIMENSIONS. PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE GIVEN TO GENERATIONAL CONSUMPTION, AUDIENCES, TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION IN THE RELATIONSHIP WITH CULTURAL CONSUMPTION AND SOCIO-CULTURAL CHANGES.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE ON CONTEMPORARY COMMUNICATION AND ITS SOCIO-CULTURAL ROOTS AS WELL AS ON THE DEPOSITS OF SOCIAL MEANINGS THAT CHARACTERIZE PERIODS AND ERAS.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED DURING THE COURSE WILL GUIDE AND FACILITATE THE APPLICATION OF NEW COMMUNICATION MODELS AND FORMATS.

MAKING JUDGMENTS:
THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE A THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK THAT WILL ALLOW HIM TO INDEPENDENTLY EVALUATE A VARIETY OF SOCIO-CULTURAL PHENOMENA FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE DYNAMICS OF COMMUNICATION.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE HIS KNOWLEDGE AT DIFFERENT LEVELS (BOTH TO AN AUDIENCE OF EXPERTS AND TO ONE OF NON-SPECIALISTS), EXPRESSING THEM WITH SPECIFIC LANGUAGE PROPERTIES AND LEXICAL SKILLS, AND USING THE MOST APPROPRIATE REGISTER FOR EACH CIRCUMSTANCE.

LEARNING SKILLS:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX TEXTS AND USE BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS, BOTH TRADITIONAL AND IT, TO IDENTIFY AND SELECT THE SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE USEFUL FOR INCREASING THEIR KNOWLEDGE.
Prerequisites
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORY OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY LITERATURE, BASIC ELEMENTS OF THE HISTORY OF CINEMA, TV, COMIC STRIPS, ADVERTISING AND TELEVISION FICTION.
Contents
THE TEACHING IS DEVELOPED BY FOLLOWING TWO COMPLEMENTARY LINES: 1) HISTORY, THEORY AND METHODOLOGY OF COMMUNICATION AND ITS SOCIO-CULTURAL RELEVANCE; 2) ANALYSIS OF "CASE HISTORY" BETWEEN CINEMA, COMICS, SERIAL AND AUTHOR NARRATIVE, ADVERTISING, ART AND WEB VIDEO ETC. PARTICULAR ATTENTION IS GIVEN TOWARDS GENERATIONAL CONSUMPTIONS, AUDIENCES, TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION IN ITS RELATIONS WITH THE CULTURAL AND SOCIAL CHANGES OF MODERN AND POST-MODERN COMMUNICATION.
Teaching Methods
FRONTAL LESSONS, PROJECTION OF AUDIOVISUAL SEQUENCES, TEXTUAL AND SOCIO-CULTUROLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF FILMS, COMICS AND OTHER TYPES OF THE MODERN AND POST-MODERN COMMUNICATION.
Verification of learning
THE LEARNING CHECK CONSISTS OF AN ORAL EXAM. THE EXAMINATION QUESTIONS WILL AIM TO VERIFY THE ACQUISITION OF THE KNOWLEDGE AND METHODS OF THE DISCIPLINE IN RELATION TO THE TEXTS ANALYZED DURING THE COURSE AND THEIR CULTURAL CONTEXTS.
