Objectives
THE TEACHING AIMS TO ADDRESS IN A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE THE CONCEPTUAL DEFINITION OF "LEISURE" AND THE PRACTICE OF ITS OWN ACTIVITIES FOR THE PERIODS PRIOR TO THE PRESENT ERA, PLACING IN THE SPECIFICITY OF EACH GIVEN HISTORICAL CONTEXT THE INDIVIDUAL PLAYFUL PRACTICES, INCLUDING THOSE OF A PHYSICAL, ATHLETIC AND COMPETITIVE NATURE AT THE TIME NOT YET DEFINED BY THE CONTEMPORARY TERM "SPORT"; TO RECONSTRUCT THE CONCRETE WAYS OF DEVELOPMENT, THE SOCIAL FUNCTION, CULTURAL REPRESENTATION AND THE ROLE PLAYED IN THE DIFFERENT EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO KNOW THE EVOLUTION OF SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF COURT LIFE, POLITICS AND SOCIETY IN THE MODERN AGE.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO KNOW HOW TO RECONSTRUCT THE HISTORICAL CONTEXT IN WHICH THE FIRST FORMS OF SPORT AND PLAY IN THE MODERN AGE ARE BORN AND THEIR INTERWEAVING WITH THE BIRTH OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY.
Prerequisites
THE TEACHING HAS NO OTHER REQUISITE, IF NOT THE KNOWLEDGE OF THOSE BASIC CONTENTS WHICH ARE NORMALLY TRANSMITTED BY THE PROGRAMS OF THE HIGH SCHOOL IN THIS FIELD OF STUDIES.

WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE EDUCATIONAL OFFER, THIS COURSE AIMS TO LEAD STUDENTS TO A CRITICAL REFLECTION ON THE BIRTH AND EVOLUTION OF COURT LIFE AND THE ORGANIZATION OF DAILY LIFE WITHIN IT, INCLUDING RECREATIONAL AND SPORTS ACTIVITIES, IN THE MORE GENERAL CONTEXT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF MODERN SOCIETY.

- THE BIRTH OF THE COURT SOCIETY.
- THE COURT FROM LOUIS XIII TO LOUIS XVI.
- THE KING’S DAY.
- PLEASURES AND COURT GAMES.
- HUNTING AND SPORTING ACTIVITIES.
- THE WORK AND THE DAYS OF THE "COMMONS".
- FASHION AND THE KITCHEN.
- THE DAILY LIFE OF THE COURTIER.

Teaching Methods
THIS TEACHING USES THE FOLLOWING METHODOLOGIES:

- LESSONS WITH WIDE CONTENTS, WITH A FINAL DISCUSSION ON THE CENTRAL TOPICS OF THE LESSON.

- LESSONS TRANSMITTING MORE APPLICATIVE KNOWLEDGES AND WHICH ARE FOLLOWED BY EXERCISES AND PROBLEMS ON WHICH THE CLASS WORKS IN ORDER TO FIND SOLUTIONS.

- LECTURES BASED ON TEXTS, WITH THEIR ANALYSIS AND THE DISCUSSION BY THE WHOLE CLASS
Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF AN ORAL EXAMINATION TO VERIFY THE STUDENT’S PREPARATION AND THE SUITABILITY TO USE THE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT IN THE FIELD OF MODERN HISTORY. DURING THE INTERVIEW WILL BE EVALUATED THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE IN A CLEAR AND UNAMBIGUOUS KNOWLEDGE OF CONTENT AND METHODOLOGICAL ACQUIRED.
