THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF THE SOCIOLOGY OF COMMUNICATION WITH A PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO INTERCULTURAL PROCESSES IN AN ERA OF ADVANCED ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL GLOBALIZATION. THE DISEMBEDDING OF CULTURES FROM LOCAL CONTEXTS OF PRODUCTION OF MEANING AND THE FORMATION OF INTERDIASPORIC PUBLIC SPHERES POSE THE URGENT NEED FOR CAREFUL REFLECTION ON THE ROLE OF THE MEDIA, CREATORS AND PRODUCT OF GLOBALIZATION, IN DISARTICULATING THE MEANINGS AND TEXTUAL PRACTICES, AND THEN REORGANIZING THEM INTO NEW AND UNPREDICTABLE FORMS. |

THE COURSE AIMS TO ARGUMENT THE FORMS OF DISEMBEDDING OF CULTURE, PLACE, COMMUNITY, POWER, IMAGINATION AND RETERRITORIALIZING POTENTIALS OF THE MEDIA IN THE AGE OF ADVANCED ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL GLOBALIZATION. IN TRACKING THE STAGES OF THE TRANSITION FROM TRADITIONAL MEDIA TO NEW MEDIA, THE ROLE PLAYED BY COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES IN THE PROCESS OF RECONFIGURATION OF CULTURAL AND SYMBOLIC FORMS WILL BE ANALYZED. |

AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT SHOULD HAVE ACQUIRED: A) KNOWLEDGE OF SOCIAL-CULTURAL AND COGNITIVE DYNAMICS ACTIVATED BY TRADITIONAL MEDIA AND NEW MEDIA; B) CRITICAL SKILLS IN THE ASSESSMENT OF TRANSFORMATIONS OF INTERCULTURAL PROCESSES IN THE AGE OF ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL GLOBALIZATION. THE FINAL EVALUATION INCLUDES AN ORAL TEST TO VERIFY THE STUDENT'S PREPARATION DEGREE. IT IS ADVISABLE (NOT MANDATORY) TO DRAW A BRIEF HEAD TO DEEPEN AN ARGUMENT OF PARTICULAR INTEREST AND TO RECOMMEND AND ARGUMENT PERSONALLY THE MOST RELEVANT CONTENT OF THE COURSE. |
