Objectives
THE COURSE PROMOTES THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL, INSTITUTIONAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC FOUNDATIONS OF TODAY'S SOCIETY, THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE HISTORICAL PROCESSES OF THE MODERN AGE IN EUROPE.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE TEACHING PROVIDES CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE OF MODERNIZATION PROCESSES IN EUROPE, WITH THE ANALYSIS OF SPECIFIC CASES THAT MAY BE OF PARTICULAR INTEREST AND SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE PROBLEMS OF STARTING WORK AND TRAINING. THROUGH THE STUDY OF HISTORICAL PROCESSES OF THE MODERN AGE, AS IMPORTANT PERIOD IN WHICH THERE ARE THE ORIGINS OF THE STATE, WITH ITS INSTITUTIONS, ORGANIZATIONS AND LEGAL SUBJECTS, THE OBJECTIVE IS TO OBTAIN A SUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE OF THE INSTITUTIONAL, POLITICAL, ADMINISTRATIVE, CULTURAL AND ECONOMICAL FACTORS OF THE PRESENT SOCIETY.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE STUDENT IS INTRODUCED TO THE METHODS OF HISTORICAL ANALYSIS OF SOCIO-INSTITUTIONAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROBLEMS, AND IS INVITED TO PRACTICE THEM ALSO FOR THE ANALYSIS OF CURRENT PROBLEMS. THROUGH THE STUDY OF HISTORICAL DYNAMICS OF THE LOCAL AND NATIONAL TERRITORY, INCLUDED IN THE CONTEXT OF EUROPEAN EVENTS, STUDENTS DEVELOP THE CAPACITIES TO ANALYZE CRITICALLY HISTORICAL EVENTS, EVALUATING CAUSES, INTERRELATIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS, TO PERFORM COMPARISONS AND CONTEXTUALIZATIONS IN DIACHRONIC AND SYNCHRONIC PERSPECTIVE, IN ORDER TO ARGUE CORRECTLY.

IN ORDER TO PROMOTE AN ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE INSTITUTIONS AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC SYSTEMS OF THE NATIONAL AND EUROPEAN CONTEXT IN WHICH THE FUTURE GRADUATE WILL HAVE TO OPERATE, THE COURSE PROPOSES THE STUDY OF THE MAIN HISTORICAL EVENTS OF THE MODERN EUROPE, TO FIND THE EUROPEAN IDENTITY, TO TRACE THE ORIGINS OF STATE AND CITIZENSHIP CONCEPT, OF THE SENSE OF NATIONAL BELONGING, OF THE GLOBALIZATION DYNAMICS, OF THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROCESSES OF MODERNITY. IN SUMMARY, THE MAIN TOPICS WILL BE THE FOLLOWING: STATE AND RENAISSANCE; RELIGIOUS DIVISIONS; BALANCE AND HEGEMONY FROM CHARLES VIII TO CHARLES V; EUROPEAN WORLD PRIMATE AND HEGEMONIAN STATES; CRISIS, CONFLICTS AND REVOLUTIONS IN THE SEVENTH CENTURY; MODERN STATE, SOCIETY AND ABSOLUTE MONARCHY; THE AGE OF EUROPEAN BALANCE: WARS, ILLUMINISM AND REFORMS; THE ATLANTIC REVOLUTIONS: FROM THE AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE TO THE FRENCH REVOLUTION; TOWARDS THE 19TH CENTURY EUROPE.
Teaching Methods
THIS TEACHING USES THE FOLLOWING METHODOLOGIES:
-LESSONS, ALSO USING MASS-MEDIA, AND DISCUSSION WITH STUDENTS.
-LECTURES BASED ON SHORT REPRESENTATIVE HISTORICAL TEXTS, WITH ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION BY THE WHOLE CLASS.
Verification of learning
FINAL ORAL EXAMINATION VERIFIES OBJECTIVES ABOUT KNOWLEDGE, CORRECT LANGUAGE, CRITICAL CAPACITIES. IT CONSISTS IN QUESTIONS ON THE SUBJECTS SUBMITTED DURING THE LESSONS AND REPERIBLE IN THE PRESCRIPTED BOOKS. IT CHECKS THE LEARNING OF THE CONTENTS, THE DISCUSSION CAPACITY, THE APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE.
