Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE KEY KNOWLEDGE AND TOOLS NEEDED TO CREATE PATHS OF INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION, AIMED AT ENCOURAGING CONTACTS BETWEEN PEOPLE BELONGING TO DIFFERENT ETHNIC GROUPS AND CULTURES TO LEARN TO LIVE WITH-AND TO INTERACT WITH THE 'ANOTHER.
TO CREATE A CIVIL DEMOCRATIC COEXISTENCE, INTERCULTURAL PEDAGOGY PROPOSES UNIVERSALLY SHARED VALUES SUCH AS TOLERANCE, RESPECT AND SOLIDARITY
DURING THE LESSONS WE WILL FOCUS, IN PARTICULAR, ON SOME ASPECTS SUCH AS: THE CONCEPT OF CULTURE, INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION WITH THEIR MISCONCEPTIONS AND MISUNDERSTANDINGS, INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE AND SPECIFIC STRATEGIES OF INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION AT SCHOOL.
AFTER COMPLETING THE COURSE THE STUDENT:

-UNDERSTAND PRINCIPLES OF INTERCULTURAL PEDAGOGY, METHODOLOGIES AND EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES;

-UNDERSTAND AND BE ABLE TO ANALYZE THE CULTURAL AND SOCIAL CHANGES PRESENT IN MULTICULTURAL SOCIETIES;
-UNDERSTAND AND ANALYZE THE CONSTRUCTION DEVELPMENT OF FOREIGN CHILDREN’S IDENTITY.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO PROMOTE THE ACQUISITION OF PEDAGOGICAL KNOWLEDGE SPECIFIC EPISTEMOLOGICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO ENCOURAGE THE TRANSFERABILITY OF ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN EDUCATIONAL PRACTICE AND TEACHING
JUDGEMENT: TO FOSTER THE ABILITY TO READ AND INTERPRET CRITICALLY THE EDUCATIONAL REALITY IN INTERCULTURAL PERSPECTIVE .
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: THE STUDENT IS ABLE TO COMMUNICATE USING ADEQUATE RECORDS INFORMATION, SKILLS ACQUIRED, STATING THE INTERPRETATIVE CHOICES.
LEARNING SKILLS: THE STUDENT ACQUIRES THE ABILITY TO MAKE APPROPRIATE USE OF METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS AND DATA NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE TO FURTHER ENRICH THEIR SKILLS AND TO APPLY THESE SKILLS TO OTHER TEACHINGS OF THE COURSE OF STUDY
Prerequisites
BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF GENERAL PEDAGOGY AND SOCIOLOGY OF CULTURAL PROCESSES.
