Objectives
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE COURSE FURNISHES A WIDE KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASICS OF THE PSYCHOLOGY OF DISABILITY AND INTEGRATION, IMPROVING THE STUDENTS' ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND DISCUSS ITS MAIN ISSUES.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE COURSE IMPROVES THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE ACHIEVED KNOWLEDGE AND TO ANALYSE FURTHER AND MORE PARTICULAR PROBLEMS OF THE PSYCHOLOGY OF DISABILITY AND INTEGRATION.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT: THE COURSE IMPROVES THE ABILITY TO INTERPRET CRITICALLY DATA AND PROBLEMS WHICH ARE TYPICAL OF THE PSYCHOLOGY OF DISABILITY AND INTEGRATION AND THE ABILITY TO REFLECT UPON ITS MAIN TOPICS, FORMULATING INFORMED JUDGEMENTS.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
THE COURSE IMPROVES THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE INFORMATION AND CRITICAL REMARKS CONCERNING THE ISSUES OF PSYCHOLOGY OF DISABILITY AND INTEGRATION TO SPECIALIST AND NON SPECIALIST AUDIENCES, WITH A PROPER TERMINOLOGY.
LEARNING SKILLS:
THE COURSE HELPS TO IMPROVE THOSE LEARNING SKILLS WHICH ARE REQUIRED IN ORDER OF UNDERTAKING FURTHER STUDIES WITH A HIGHER DEGREE OF AUTONOMY IN THE PSYCHOLOGY OF DISABILITY AND INTEGRATION
IN PARTICULAR THE COURSE AIMS:
- PROVIDE A DEFINITION OF THE CONCEPT OF DISABILITY
- TO PROVIDE BASIC KNOWLEDGE ON THE MAJOR DEFICIT PAINTINGS , RELATIVE TO THE DEFINING CHARACTERISTICS AND KNOWN CAUSES ;
- PROVIDE FOR EACH TYPE OF DISABILITY A PICTURE OF THE LINES OF RESEARCH AND INTERVENTION REGARDING THE DIFFERENT AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT;
- TO EXAMINE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DISABILITY AND MAJOR LIFE CONTEXTS
- EXAMINE THE ROLE OF PSYCHOLOGY IN THE STUDY OF DISABILITY AND IN VARIOUS AREAS OF INTERVENTION
- TO PROMOTE THE DEEPENING OF ISSUES RELATED TO SPECIFIC DISORDERS

Contents
THE COURSE WILL EXAMINE THE INCLUSION AND INTEGRATION PROCESSES, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO DISABILITY. WE WILL CONSIDER THE MAIN METHODS OF STUDY AND INTERVENTION TECHNIQUES IN THE FIELD OF HEALTH, THE PSYCHOLOGICAL DISCOMFORT, THE MOST COMMON DISABILITY. WE WILL LOOK AT THE EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL INCLUSION FACILITATION PROCEDURES OF DISABLED PEOPLE, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE ROLE OF TEACHERS, CLASSMATES AND PARENTS IN THE SCHOOL INTEGRATION PROCESSES.
DURING THE LESSONS WILL BE ANALYZED THE CHANGES THAT WERE RECORDED IN CONNECTION WITH THE ISSUE OF THE ASSESSMENT AND CLASSIFICATION OF DISABILITIES, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO:
- THE INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF FUNCTIONING, DISABILITY AND HEALTH;
- THE PROCEDURES OF INCLUSION AND INCLUSIVE EDUCATION FACILITATION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND THEREFORE THE ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES AND INTERVENTION ACTIVITIES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE SAME;
- THE ROLE THAT THE CONTEXT (PARENTS, CLASSMATES, TEACHERS) CAN PLAY IN INCLUSIVE EDUCATION OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES;
- THE CONSTRUCTS RELATED TO SOCIAL SKILLS, SELF-DETERMINATION AND QUALITY OF LIFE, ON WHICH THE INTERNATIONAL LITERATURE PAYS PARTICULAR ATTENTION REGARDING PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
