	Objectives
	The course is aimed at those students who at the TOLC-S test have obtained a mark lower than 8 for basic mathematics, or those for whom the sum of the scores in basic mathematics + reasoning and problems + text comprehension is lower than 14. The aim of the course is to provide an intensive mathematical path in order to recover some basic lacks revealed by the TOLC-S test. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: the course aims to recover, develop and consolidate knowledge and abilities in different areas of basic mathematics. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: the course aims to provide tools useful as prerequisites for understanding and facing the mathematical issues that will be addressed in subsequent courses.

	Probability: probability of an event; compatible, incompatible and complementary events; dependent and independent events; conditional probability. First and second degree equations and inequalities. Functions: elementary functions; composed functions; main function graphs. Linear systems: by substitution, by comparison, by reduction. Main elements of geometry of the plane: equation of a straight line; parallel and perpendicular straight lines; equation of a straight line for a point and parallel / perpendicular to a given straight line; distance of a point from a straight line; perimeter and area of a triangle; area of a circle inscribed / circumscribed to a square. Main elements of logic: necessary condition and sufficient condition.

	Teaching Methods
	Front lectures, individual and group activities concerning the contents, guided discussion.

	Verification of learning
	At the end of the course there will be a test valid as final examination (before the deadline for completing the university enrolment) aimed at verifying the recovery of the OFA. The test will be in written form, with multiple choice questions.

	Passing the final test will allow the student to complete the OFA. Those who fail to pass the test will not be allowed to take the exams throughout the first academic year, unless they pass a second test which will be held subsequently, during the period of lessons. Students for which it is required to participate in the intensive course for OFA could wait for the results of the final test and then decide whether or not to enroll in the BSc.
