Objectives
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

The laboratory aims at providing the student with the knowledge of
components and operating mechanisms of an electronic computer, with
particular reference to how the information is represented and processed. The
student acquires skills to apply computer knowledge to process
collected data, using specific methodologies, instruments, and software and available plant database (Excel, Image
J, others).

Applying knowledge and understanding
THE LABORATORY HAS AS TRAINING OBJECTIVE TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO MONITOR AND PROCESS DATA OF THE MAIN ENVIRONMENTAL PARAMETERS AND PLANT GROWTH, ALONG WITH KNOWLEDGE ON AVAILABLE DATABASE FOR THE DESCRIPTION OF CROP PLANT.

Making judgements
THE LABORATORY ACTIVITIES WILL PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE ABILITY TO ADDRESS AND DISCUSS IN AN INDEPENDENT WAY ARGUMENTS AND PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE APPLICATION OF COMPUTER TOOLS FOR THE MONITORING OF PLANT GROWTH AND VARIATION OF THE MAIN PLANT GROWTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL PARAMETERS OF PLANTS OF AGRICULTURAL INTEREST.
THE LABORATORY PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY OF SYNTHESIS ALSO THROUGH GROUP WORK AND TO ACQUIRE COMMUNICATION TOOLS (DEVELOPMENT OF GRAPHICS; POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS) OF RELEVANT ASPECTS AND PROBLEMS IN AGRICULTURE.

Learning skills
STUDENTS WILL BE CONTINUOUSLY ASSISTED AND ENCOURAGED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PERSONAL AND INDEPENDENT AND GROUP STUDY APPROACH, THROUGH THE DETECTION AND CRITICAL AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY ANALYSIS OF THE DATA COLLECTED IN THE FIELD.

Prerequisites
BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF MATHEMATICS PROVIDED BY HIGH SCHOOLS IS REQUIRED, CONSOLIDATED BY THOSE ACQUIRED IN THE COURSES OF THE FIRST YEAR .

THE TOPICS ADDRESSED IN THE COURSE ARE:
-ORGANIZATION AND INFORMATION ANALYSIS: THE EXCEL PROGRAM (1 ECTS, 12 hours);
- APPLICATIONS FOR DETECTION OF AGRO-METEROLOGICAL DATA AND PLANT GROWTH PARAMETERS BY USING SUITABLE DETECTION INSTRUMENTS (MICROSENSORS, DETECTION UNIT, OTHER INSTRUMENTS) (1 ECTS, 12 hours);
PROCESSING AND GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION OF COLLECTED DATA (1 ECTS, 12 hours).

-SEMINARS FOR THE PRESENTATION OF ACTIVITIES, METHODS AND INSTRUMENTS
- PRACTICAL CLASSES (INDIVIDUALLY OR IN SMALL GROUPS) IN THE LABORATORY AND/OR IN THE FIELD FOR DATA COLLECTION
-USE OF SOFTWARES FOR THE ANALYSIS AND GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION OF THE COLLECTED DATA;
- CLASSROOM EXERCISES TO CONSOLIDATE THE TOPICS AND ASPECTS TOF APPLICATIONS OF INFORMATICS IN AGRICULTURE
Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF:
-A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION ON THE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT IN THE LABORATORY AND IN THE FIELD;
-A PRACTICAL TEST ON THE ANALYSIS OF A SERIES OF COLLECTED DATA, BY USING THE EXCEL SHEET

IN CASE OF POSITIVE RESULTS, THE FINAL VOTE IS REGISTERED AS "PASSED"
