Luigi Egiziano

Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering

prof. Luigi Egiziano, born in Naples in 1942, is Professor Emeritus of the University of Salerno with MIUR decree of 4/1/12. Graduated with honors in Electronic Engineering, he was first Associate Professor in Insulation Techniques at the Federico II University of Naples (1980-1986) and then Full Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Salerno (1986-2010).

Numerous institutional activities covered, including:
  • Delegate of the Rector of the University of Naples Federico II for the electrical safety of University Structures (1986/90).
  • Member of the Board of Directors of the University of Salerno (1986/1988).
  • Delegate of the Rector in the Building Commission of the University of Salerno since 1989.
  • Pro-Rector of the University of Salerno in the three-year period 93/95.
  • Member of the Academic Senate of the University of Salerno - Scientific Area 09 (2010).
  • Director of the Institute of Electronic Engineering of the University of Salerno in the two-year period 1992-93.
  • Director of the Department of Information Engineering and Electrical Engineering until August 2001.
  • Administrator of the Science and Technology Park of Salerno and Avellino.
  • Member of the Research Council of the University of Salerno.
  • Member of the Technical-Scientific Committee of the Quality Center of the University of Salerno.
  • Member of the Management Committee of the Regional Center of Competence - Agri-food Production.
  • Coordinator of numerous Committees of the Faculty of Engineering
  • Member of the Teaching Board of the PhD in Information Engineering with administrative headquarters at the University of Salerno.
He held the courses of Insulation Techniques and Electrical Modeling of Materials at the University Federico II of Naples from 1982 to 1992. Since 1986 he has been the holder of the teachings of Electrical Engineering for the Degree Courses in Mechanical, Chemical and Civil Engineering at the University of Salerno. He has been the supervisor of numerous Degree and PhD Theses and scientific director of Research Grants.
Since 1974 he has been part of the FINTOR Group (JRC Euratom - Ispra, CNEN Frascati, Institute of Electrical Engineering of the University of Naples) established for the conceptual design of a Tokamak reactor of minimum dimensions.
He has been a member of the High Voltage Research Group of the CNR since 1976.
He was a member, starting from 1990 and for about three years, of the International Working Group 15.06.02. of CIGRE on issues related to solid insulating materials, and participated in the activities of the Task Force for interface phenomena in H. T. insulation systems.
The scientific activity was mainly conducted within the framework of research programs funded by MURST (Quotes 40 and 60%), contracts and agreements with research institutions and important national companies, European projects and collaborations with scholars from other Italian and foreign universities and research centers. Holder of patents in the field of energy conversion.
He was also Chairman of numerous International Workshops and Reviewer of National and International Research Projects.

Maurizio Longo

Professor Emeritus of Telecommunications

Maurizio Longo (Agerola (Naples), June 22, 1948) obtained a degree in Electronic Engineering (University of Naples, 1972) and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (Stanford University, California, 1977).
Since 1994 he has been Full Professor of Telecommunications at the University of Salerno. He has also taught at the University of Naples “Federico II” (as a lecturer since 1975 and as an associate professor from 1980 to 1994), at the Naval University Institute (Naples), at the University of Lecce, at the Air Force Academy (Pozzuoli), at the Army Transport and Materials School (Rome), at the IIASS - International Institute of High Scientific Studies (Vietri s.m.). He was Visiting Scholar at Stanford University (California) in 1986/87 and 1990. He is author or coauthor of over 150 papers -- most of them in international journals and proceedings of international conferences -- in the field of statistical signal processing, with emphasis on radar and remote sensing applications, and in the field of telecommunication networks.
He has received awards and prizes, such as: Fulbright Fellowship funded by General Electric for post-graduate studies in the USA (1976), Formez scholarship for research abroad (1986), Brabazon prize of the I.E.E.--I.E.R.E., London (1987), NATO--CNR Senior Fellowship for research abroad (1990).
For the University of Salerno he was: President of the University Patent Commission (since 2012), member of the Board of Directors of the Italian National Telecommunications Consortium - CNIT (since 2011), member of the Board of Directors of the Consortium of Telecommunications Research - CoRiTeL (since 2000), Scientific Director of the CoRiTeL Consortium Laboratory, member of the Steering Committee of the Remote Sensing Laboratory for Environmental Hazard Monitoring (ReSLEHM); President of the Degree Course Council in Electronic Engineering (from 1997 to 2000); Coordinator of the PhD in Information Engineering (from 2000 to 2009); Director of the Department of Information Engineering and Electrical Engineering (from 2007 to 2010); member of the University Commission for the resolution of problems inherent to the IT sector (from 1997 to 2001); Designer and Supply Manager for the Library Automation System (1998-2000); Designer and Consultant to the Management of the works for the telematic network of the Humanities Faculties (1998-1999); University Representative for the Management and Maintenance Agreement of the University network (from 1998 to 2001); Designer and Director of works for the voice-data network infrastructure and for the telephone system of the ADiSU of Salerno (1999-2001); Tester for the installation of the Language Laboratories of the University Language Centre (1999-2000); Director of works for the installation of the multimedia Lab of the University Language Centre (2000); Member of the Testing Commission for the works of arrangement of the Student Secretariat square (2004-2006); Member of the Selection Commission for Partners of the University Foundation of Salerno for gardening services (2009) and for monitoring services of university structures (2010); President of the Partner Selection Commission of the University Foundation of Salerno for the press service (2011), for the custody services (2011), for the custody service of the UNISA offices, also by means of video surveillance systems (2012)
He has also held positions for other administrations including: Commissioner of the Municipality of Naples for the testing of the Vomero-Pianura road axis (1988-2005); President of the testing commission of the Campania Region for the viability of the new stadium of Salerno (1990-2003); Commissioner of the Municipality of Naples for the improvement of the traffic light system (1995) and for the drafting of the tender specifications for the new voice-data network (1996-97); Commissioner of the Province of Naples for the awarding of the supply of the telephone exchange (1998); Commissioner of the National Library of Naples "V. Emanuele III” for the award of geographic network connection services (2004); Member of the EEC commission, Directorate General XIII, for the evaluation of European telematics application projects, Brussels (1995); Member of the Scientific Committee of CSELT (Telecommunications Studies and Laboratories Centre), Turin (1998-2000); Commissioner of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage for the award and, subsequently, for the testing of the digitization service of the National Library of Bari (2006); and for the award of the supply of the system for the management and use of digitized images at the National Library of Naples (2008); Commissioner of the Campania Region for the award of the supply and installation of the radio communications network of the regional Civil Protection system (2005); Commissioner of the Municipality of Fisciano for the drafting of the municipal regulation for mobile telephony installations (2010-2011); Member of the commission for the award of the works for "Technological modernization and operational enhancement of the radiocommunication system of the Sicilian Region Forestry Corps" (2012); Technical consultant, mainly in radio-television and IT matters, (Courts of Naples and Salerno, TAR Salerno, Magistrates' Courts of Naples, Sorrento, Cicciano, Avellino, Gragnano, Cava dei Tirreni, Public Prosecutor's Offices of Naples, S.
