THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE ON PUBLIC AND DIGITAL HISTORY INTERPRETED AS THE PROCESS OF COMMUNICATING HISTORY, WHICH FACILITATES FREE PUBLIC ACCESS AND INVOLVEMENT IN THE DISSEMINATION OF HISTORY AND ENCOURAGES AND RE-TRANSLATION (RE-ADAPTATION) OF HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE INTO MEDIA FORMATS, BASED ON THE USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY. |

THE COURSE INTENDS TO OFFER TOOLS FOR RESEARCHING AND DISSEMINATING HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE FROM THE UNIVERSITIES TO GENERAL AUDIENCE. PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE PAID TO THE USE OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES, INNOVATIVE LANGUAGES AND DIFFERENT LEVELS OF INTERACTION FOR DIFFERENTIATED AUDIENCES. IT IS COMPOSED OF 3 MODULES: 1) AFTER A FIRST INTRODUCTORY PART TO UNDERSTAND THE SENSE OF THE PAST IN OUR PUBLIC DISCOURSE, WE MOVE ON TO DEEPEN THE FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS AND PRACTICES RELATED TO THE PUBLIC HISTORY. THROUGH THE ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE EXAMPLES, IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO EVALUATE THE MAIN HISTORICAL, THEMATIC AND METHODOLOGICAL ISSUES RELATED TO THE STUDY OF HISTORICAL COMMUNICATION. 2) A SECOND PART OF THE COURSE WILL BE DEVOTED TO HISTORICAL MUSEUMS, WHICH REPRESENT A PARTICULAR DEVICE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, TRANSMISSION AND PUBLIC USE OF THE PAST. A LONG-TERM ANALYSIS WILL HIGHLIGHT THE FUNCTIONS AND MEANINGS THAT THE MEMORY OF THE RISORGIMENTO HAVE PLAYED IN ITALIAN POLITICAL AND CULTURAL LIFE. A SPECIFIC FOCUS WILL CONCERN THE ROLE OF MUSEUMS IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF VIRTUAL MUSEUM. 3) IN THE LAST PART OF THE COURSE, THERE WILL BE A DIGITAL HISTORY COMMUNICATIONS LAB. |
