Objectives
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE STUDENT WILL BE SOLICITED BY THE STUDY OF AUTHORS, TEXTS, THEORIES AND COMPUTER-PHILOSOPHICAL PROBLEMS, TO THINK ABOUT THE SPECULATIVE PECULIARITIES, THE TECHNICAL IMPLICATIONS AND THE SOCIAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE DIGITAL CULTURE.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF ICT TO THE DAILY USE OF COMPUTER TOOLS AND TO KNOW HOW TO DISTINGUISH AND EFFECTIVELY USE THE MAIN TOOLS FOR INFORMATION RETRIEVAL ONLINE.

MAKING JUDGMENTS:THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO EVALUATE CRITICALLY THE PHILOSOPHICAL DEPTH OF THE MAIN ISSUES RELATED TO THE DIGITAL REVOLUTION AND THE MOTIVATIONS COMING FROM THE ETHICAL AND EPISTEMOLOGICAL EVOLUTION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO EXPOSE CLEARLY THE TOPICS DISCUSSED DURING THE COURSE, TAKING IN TURN THE HISTORICAL APPROACH, THE THEORETICAL AND THE TECHNICAL ONES, WHICH ALL CONVERGE TO THE EPISTEMOLOGICAL FOUNDATION OF THE DISCIPLINE.

LEARNING ABILITY:
THE FREQUENCY OF THE COURSE WILL ENABLE THE STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE THE PROPER TOOLS FOR A MORE CRITICAL AND MATURE RELATION WITH THE NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND TO APPRECIATE THE THEORETICAL IMPLICATIONS OF EACH PHENOMENON OF THE KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY.

THE COURSE IS INTERDISCIPLINARY BY NATURE, IT MOVES FROM REFLECTION ON THE LOGICO-PHILOSOPHICAL CONCEPT OF UNIVERSAL COMPUTER, THE SO-CALLED ALGEBRA OF THOUGHT, ON WHICH PHILOSOPHERS AND LOGICIANS SUCH AS LEIBNIZ AND BOOLE, FREGE AND CANTOR, GÖDEL AND TURING HAVE FOCUSED; IT CONTINUES THROUGH THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE MAIN STAGES OF THE HISTORY OF HYPERTEXT, A CONCEPT THAT THANKS TO THE INTUITION OF BUSH, LICKLIDER AND NELSON HAS CONTRIBUTED SIGNIFICANTLY TO DEFINE THE IDENTITY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE ITSELF AND HAS INSPIRED THE INVENTOR OF THE WEB BERNERS-LEE; IT CONCLUDES WITH AN ANALYSIS OF TOOLS AND RESOURCES (OPAC, ELECTRONIC JOURNALS, OPEN ARCHIVES, E-BOOKS, DATABASES) OF THE DIGITAL DOCUMENTARY UNIVERSE, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE PHILOSOPHICAL SOURCES AVAILABLE ONLINE AND THE SERVICES OFFERED BY THE WEBSITE OF THE LIBRARIES OF THE UNIVERSITY. A PART OF THE COURSE WILL BE DEDICATED TO THE INFORMATION LITERACY AND TO THE TRAINING IN THE USE OF WIKI PLATFORMS.

Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A DISCUSSION ON THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE. STUDENTS SHOULD ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE COLLABORATIVE WRITING OF THE EBOOK DEDICATED TO THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE.
