Objectives
INTRODUCING AND DELVING INTO THE WORLD OF BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEMS, THROUGH A DETAILED VISION ON BUSINESS EVOLUTION IN KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY, ON DIFFERENT COMPONENTS OF OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT SUPPORT SYSTEMS, THE CONNECTIONS WITH THE ENTERPRISE 2.0 AS A BASIC PREMISE FOR A SYSTEMIC APPROACH TO THE DESIGN AND THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS FOR COLLABORATION, COOPERATION AND MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION THROUGH SEMANTIC TECHNOLOGIES (SEMANTIC ENTERPRISE).
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
UNDERSTANDING THE TERMINOLOGY USED IN BUSINESS INFORMATICS, INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT, AS WELL AS THE MAIN, SEMANTIC WEB (RDF, RDFS, OWL, SPARQL), THE MOST KNOWN ONTOLOGICAL SCHEMAS (FOAF, SIOC, SKOS, ETC.) AND STORAGE SYSTEMS (TRIPLE-STORE) AND THEIR APPLICATION IN THE ENTERPRISE CONTEXT.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
BEING ABLE TO APPLY TECHNOLOGIES AND SEMANTIC SCHEMAS FOR THE REPRESENTATION OF INFORMATION AND THEIR RELATIONSHIPS, IMPLEMENTATION OF ADVANCED APPLICATIONS TYPICAL OF THE ENTERPRISE 2.0, ENABLING INFERENCE BY EXPLOITING SUCH SEMANTIC SCHEMAS AND ALLOWING TO DEFINE THE ARCHITECTURE OF THESE SOLUTIONS.

BEING ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE MOST APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SEMANTIC SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS. FOLLOWING AND EVALUATING TECHNOLOGICAL TRENDS RELATED TO SEMANTIC WEB AND ENTERPRISE 2.0, TO ASSESS THEIR IMPACT IN TERMS OF ADOPTION IN A BUSINESS CONTEXT.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
BEING ABLE TO WORK IN A TEAM AND VERBALLY PRESENT TOPICS CONNECTED WITH THE THEMES STUDIED DURING THE COURSE.
LEARNING SKILLS:
BEING ABLE TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO CONTEXTS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE, AND TO DELVE INTO THE INVESTIGATED TOPICS USING DIVERSE MATERIAL THAN THE PROPOSED LEARNING RESOURCES.
Prerequisites
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TARGETED GOALS IMPLIES KNOWLEDGE ON BASIC CONCEPTS OF DATABASES, XML PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE AND OF SOFTWARE ENGINEERING ABOUT ARCHITECTURES.

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE HAS A DYNAMIC SETTING, WHICH INCLUDES A NUMBER OF CASE STUDIES AND STUDENTS HANDS-ON ACTIVITY. THE STUDENTS IN FACT ARE REQUESTED TO DEEPEN SPECIFIC TOPICS ON TECHNOLOGIES, SEMANTIC WEB STANDARDS AND RELATED APPLICATIONS.
Verification of learning
THERE ARE TWO PARTS IN THE EXAM: A WRITTEN EXAM AND AN ORAL EXAM. THE WRITTEN EXAM CONSISTS IN THE COLLABORATIVE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROJECT WORK. THE ORAL EXAM WILL BE BASED ON THE PRESENTATION OF THE RESULTS ACHEVED WITH THE PROJECT WORK AND AN OPEN DISCUSSION ON THE ELEMENTS OF THE SEMANTC WEB TECHNOLOGICAL STACK APPLIED FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE
