Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF THE METHODOLOGIES FOR THE REALIZATION OF NEW INDUSTRIAL INITIATIVES, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE TECHNICAL, ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL ASPECTS OF THE BUSINESS PLAN AND THE MAIN PROJECT MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUE.
THE COURSE AIMS ALSO TO GIVE TO THE STUDENTS THE BASIC CONCEPTS ABOUT THE PROJECTING, THE SIZING AND THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PRINCIPAL PLANT FACILITIES WITH THE TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC COMPARISON OF THE DIFFERENT PLANT ALTERNATIVES.
THE EXPECTED SKILLS AT THE END OF THE COURSE ARE THE THE ABILITY TO PREPARE A PROJECT PLAN, TO PLAN PROJECT ACTIVITIES WITH ATTENTION TO TIMING AND COST PLANNING AND TO PROPERLY MONITOR ITS EXECUTION IN COMPLIANCE WITH EXISTING CONSTRAINTS.
Prerequisites
FOR THE SUCCESSFUL ACHIEVEMENT OF THE GOALS SET, TECHNOLOGICAL, ECONOMIC AND IT KNOWLEDGE OF THE INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING TRAINING AND ACQUIRED IN THE FIRST LEVEL DEGREE ARE REQUIRED.

PROJECT PLANNING (6H T + 6H E): INTRODUCTION TO THE PM, PROJECT PLAN, WBS, OBS.
PROGRAMMING OF PROJECT ACTIVITIES (6H T + 9H E): GANTT, RETICULAR TECHNIQUES, PERT, CPM.
PROJECT CONTROL (8H T + 3H E): COST CONTROL, EARNED VALUE, ESTIMATES AT COMPLETION, RISK MANAGEMENT.
PLANT FACILITIES BASICS (2H T) . RELIABILITY OF INDUSTRIAL COMPONENTS AND SYSTEMS (5H T + 3H E). SYSTEMS FOR WATER DISTRIBUTION AND TREATMENT (6H T + 6H E). SYSTEMS FOR COMPRESSED AIR PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION (5H T + 4H E). SYSTEMS FOR ELECTRIC ENERGY TRANSFORMATION AND DISTRIBUTION (5H T + 3H E). PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF THERMAL ENERGY (6H T + 3H E). ILLUMINATING ENGINEERING (3H T + 3H E) .

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES THEORETICAL LESSONS AND CLASSROOM EXERCISES RELATED TO EACH TOPIC BEING DISCUSSED. THE LATTER ARE AIMED AT VERIFYING THE ABILITY TO PUT INTO PRACTICE, ON CONCRETE CASES, THE CONCEPTS LEARNED DURING THE THEORETICAL LESSONS.
Verification of learning
LEARNING WILL BE VERIFIED WITH A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL INTERVIEW.
IN THE WRITTEN TEST EXERCISES SIMILAR TO THOSE CARRIED OUT DURING THE LESSONS WILL BE ADMINISTERED; THEY WILL CONCERN THE PLANNING OF PROJECT ACTIVITIES, PROJECT CONTROL AND PROJECT RISK MANAGEMENT, AS WELL AS THE SIZING CRITERIA OF THE MAIN ELEMENTS MAKING UP THE SERVICE SYSTEMS. EACH OF THE QUESTIONS WILL BE ASSIGNED A SCORE AND WHOEVER DOES THE WHOLE TEXT CORRECTLY WILL HAVE A SCORE OF 30/30. THE GRADE OF THE WRITTEN PART WILL BE MEDIATE WITH THE ORAL INTERVIEW IN WHICH THE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE PROVIDED AND THE ABILITY TO PUT THE MAIN CONCEPTS INTO PRACTICE WILL BE ASCERTAINED, THROUGH QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN, CHOICE OF SYSTEMS, PLANNING AND CONTROL OF PROJECT ACTIVITIES. THE ORAL EVALUATION IS EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS FOR EACH QUESTION, AND THEN MEDIATED ON THE QUESTIONS. A SUFFICIENT MARK (18) IS GIVEN TO THE SINGLE QUESTION, WHEN THE STUDENT SHOWS ELEMENTARY BUT ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPIC; THE MAXIMUM SCORE IS ATTRIBUTED (30) IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ABILITY TO EXPLAIN THE SYSTEM ASPECTS CONNECTED TO THE INDIVIDUAL QUESTION WITH FULL AUTONOMY AND TECHNICAL LANGUAGE PROPERTIES. THE FINAL GRADE IS THE ARITHMETIC MEAN OF THE MARKS OBTAINED IN THE WRITTEN TEST AND THE ORAL EXAM. IN PARTICULAR, HONORS WILL BE AWARDED IN THE PRESENCE OF A MAXIMUM MARK AND ABILITY BY THE CANDIDATE TO DEMONSTRATE READINESS IN THE LINKS BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT TOPICS AND IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE SAME BEYOND WHAT IS EXPLAINED DURING THE LESSONS OF THE COURSE.
