Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS AT LEARNING TOPICS CONCERNING THE ELECTROMECHANICAL AND THE STATIC ENERGY CONVERSION. SOME ELEMENTS CONCERNING RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS AND BATTERIES ARE ALSO GIVEN.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE ELECTROMECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAIN DC AND AC MOTORS AND OF THE SWITCHING CONVERTERS USED FOR MOTOR DRIVING AND IN THE SYSTEMS PRODUCING ELECTRICAL POWER FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO BE ABLE TO ANALYZE THE ELECTROMECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF DC AND AC MOTORS AND THE OPERATING PRINCIPLES OF THE MAIN CIRCUITS FOR THE STATIC ENERGY CONVERSION.
MAKING JUDGMENTS: TO BE ABLE TO CHOOSE THE BEST DRIVING CIRCUITS FOR GIVEN MOTORS AND TO EVALUATE THE PERFORMANCES OF AN ELECTRICAL MOTOR ON THE BASIS OF ITS TYPE AND ITS ELECTROMECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: BEING ABLE TO EXPLAIN VERBALLY A TOPIC OF THE COURSE. TO BE ABLE TO WORK IN A GROUP.
LEARNING SKILLS: BEING ABLE TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO DIFFERENT CONTEXTS FROM THOSE PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE.

LECTURES AND CLASSROOM PRACTICE BASED ON THE USE OF A SOFTWARE FOR CIRCUIT SIMULATIONS.
Verification of learning
THE FINAL EXAM IS DESIGNED TO EVALUATE AS A WHOLE: THE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPTS PRESENTED IN THE COURSE, THE ABILITY TO APPLY THAT KNOWLEDGE TO SOLVE PROBLEMS OF ANALYSIS OF CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS FOR THE STATIC AND THE ELECTROMECHANICAL ENERGY CONVERSION, INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT, COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND THE ABILITY TO LEARN.
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF AN ORAL INTERVIEW, THE PURPOSE OF WHICH IS TO ASSESS THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTANDING, THE ABILITY TO LEARN, ORAL PRESENTATION.
THE ORAL EXAMINATION WILL COVER ALL THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND ASSESSMENT WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE KNOWLEDGE DEMONSTRATED BY THE STUDENT AND THE DEGREE OF ITS DEPTH, PROVEN ABILITY TO LEARN, THE QUALITY OF THE PRESENTATION.
THE FINAL EVALUATION IS EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS. THE CUM LAUDE MAY BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY CAN APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE AUTONOMOUSLY EVEN IN CONTEXTS OTHER THAN THOSE PROPOSED IN THE COURSE.
