THE COURSE AIMS AT LEARNING TOPICS CONCERNING NON-LINEAR CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS, THE ELECTROMECHANICAL AND THE STATIC ENERGY CONVERSION. SOME ELEMENTS CONCERNING RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS, BATTERIES AND ELECTRICAL SAFETY ARE ALSO GIVEN. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE ELECTROMECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAIN DC AND AC MOTORS AND OF THE SWITCHING CONVERTERS USED FOR MOTOR DRIVING AND IN THE SYSTEMS PRODUCING ELECTRICAL POWER FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO BE ABLE TO ANALYZE THE ELECTROMECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF DC AND AC MOTORS AND THE OPERATING PRINCIPLES OF THE MAIN CIRCUITS FOR THE STATIC ENERGY CONVERSION. |

BASICS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS AND CIRCUIT THEORY. MAGNETIC FIELD, FARADAY'S LAW, INDUCTANCE, SELF- AND MUTUAL-INDUCTANCE, AMPÈRE'S LAW. MAGNETIC CIRCUITS, MAGNETIC MATERIALS. LTI CIRCUITS IN THE FREQUENCY DOMAIN, TRANSFER FUNCTION, PASSIVE FILTERS. COMPUTER AIDED EXCERCISES ON MAGENTIC CIRCUITS AND MATERIALS. THE FINAL EXAM WILL EVALUATE AS A WHOLE: THE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPTS PRESENTED IN THE COURSE, THE ABILITY TO APPLY THAT KNOWLEDGE TO SOLVE PROBLEMS OF ANALYSIS OF CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS FOR THE STATIC AND THE ELECTROMECHANICAL ENERGY CONVERSION. THE EXAM CONSISTS OF AN ORAL INTERVIEW AIMED AT ASSESSING THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTANDING, THE ABILITY TO LEARN, AND ORAL PRESENTATION QUALITY. THE ORAL EXAMINATION WILL DEAL WITH ALL THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND, IF CHOSEN BY THE STUDENTS, ON THE DISCUSSIONS OF NON MANDATORY REPORTS AND INSIGHTS FACED IN GROUPS. ASSESSMENT WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE KNOWLEDGE DEMONSTRATED BY THE STUDENT AND THE DEGREE OF ITS DEPTH, PROVEN ABILITY TO LEARN, THE QUALITY OF THE PRESENTATION AND THE PROVEN CAPACITY OF WORKING IN GROUPS. THE FINAL EVALUATION IS EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS. THE "CUM LAUDE" MAY BE ASSIGNED TO STUDENTS DEMONSTRATING AUTONOMOUS APPLICATION OF THE KNOWLEDGE TO CONTEXTS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PROPOSED DURING LECTURES. |
