Objectives
THE COURSE DEALS WITH THE BASIC TOPICS OF ELECTROTECHNICS, WITH APPLICATIONS IN THE CONTEXT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING.

[KNOWLEDGE AND LEARNING ABILITY]

THE STUDENT ACQUIRES THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN ELEMENTS OF THE LINEAR CIRCUITS, THE PROPERTIES, THE METHODS OF ANALYSIS AND SOLUTION OF THE CIRCUITS IN THE TIME AND FREQUENCY DOMAINS, AND RELEVANT APPLICATIONS TO ELECTRIC MOTORS AND SYSTEMS MODELING.
THE STUDENT ACQUIRES THE LEARNING ABILITY OF THE FUNCTION OF THE CIRCUITS AND COMPONENTS IN THE TIME AND FREQUENCY DOMAINS, OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN COMPONENTS, OF THE ENERGY RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS.

[APPLIED KNOWLEDGE AND LEARNING ABILITY]

THE STUDENT HAS TO KNOW:
- HOW TO FORMULATE AND SOLVE LINEAR CIRCUIT PROBLEMS IN STEADY-STATE AND SINUSOIDAL REGIME, BY MEANS OF CIRCUIT EQUATIONS, SUPERPOSITION PRINCIPLE, EQUIVALENT GENERATORS, ALSO COMBINED WITH THE PHASOR METHOD;
- HOW TO SOLVE SIMPLE LINEAR CIRCUIT PROBLEMS IN SYMBOLIC FORM AND WITH THE HELP OF A SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR;
- HOW TO IDENTIFY THE MOST SUITABLE METHOD FOR ANALYZING BASIC LINEAR TIME INVARIANT CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS;
- HOW TO ANALYZE AND SIZE, WITHIN THE LIMITS OF LINEAR ANALYSIS, COMPONENTS AND CIRCUITS DEPENDING ON THE APPLICATION (E.G., TO ANALYZE CIRCUITS WITH ELECTRIC MOTORS, CABLES AND POWER FACTOR CORRECTION CAPACITORS IN INDUSTRIAL PLANTS);
- HOW TO FORMULATE AND SOLVE SIMPLE PROBLEMS OF TRANSIENT LINEAR CIRCUITS (I ORDER), FOR THE TIME DOMAIN ANALYSIS.
Prerequisites
FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES, MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS KNOWLEDGE (LINEAR ALGEBRA, REAL AND COMPLEX FIELD ALGEBRA, MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS, KINEMATICS ELEMENTS AND DYNAMICS OF MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, STEADY-STATE AND QUASI-STEADY-STATE ELECTROMAGNETISM) IS REQUIRED.

HAVING PASSED THE EXAMS OF MATHEMATICS 2 AND PHYSICS 2 IS A PRE-REQUISITE.

- LINEAR CIRCUITS IN STEADY- STATE. ELECTRICAL QUANTITIES AND CIRCUIT ELEMENTS. CIRCUITS OF BIPOLES, KIRCHHOFF'S LAWS. GRAPH THEORY ELEMENTS. EQUIVALENCE BETWEEN BIPOLES. THEOREMS: CONSERVATION OF THE ELECTRIC POWERS, SUPERPOSITION OF THE EFFECTS, THÉVENIN/NORTON, MAXIMUM POWER TRANSFER.

- SINE-WAVE MODE CIRCUITS: PHASOR METHOD, POWER, POWER FACTOR CORRECTION. THREE-PHASE SYMMETRICAL BALANCED SYSTEMS, POWER MEASUREMENTS, ELECTRIC MOTORS CIRCUIT MODELS, POWER LINES MODELS AND SIZE.

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES LESSONS (50%) AND CLASSROOM EXERCISES (50%).

CLASS ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.

THE TEACHING IS "IN PRESENCE" AND THE LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION IS ITALIAN.


Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL EXAM (OPTIONAL).

THE EXAM IS INTENDED TO EVALUATE, OVERALL, THE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPTS PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE, THE ABILITY TO APPLY SUCH KNOWLEDGE, THE JUDGMENTAL AUTONOMY, THE COMMUNICATIVE ABILITIES AND THE ABILITY TO LEARN.

THE WRITTEN TEST LASTS 3 HOURS AND CONSISTS OF THE RESOLUTION OF 3 EXERCISES, EACH ONE ORGANIZED ACCORDING TO 4 QUESTIONS.

EACH QUESTION CORRECTLY ANSWERED FORMALLY AND NUMERICALLY SCORES ONE POINT IN THE EVALUATION OF THE WRITTEN TEST.

THE MINIMUM SCORE (18/30) IS ACHIEVED BY CORRECTLY ANSWERING AT LEAST 3 QUESTIONS OF THE WRITTEN TEST (AT LEAST ONE QUESTION PER EXERCISE).

ACCESS TO THE ORAL TEST IS SUBJECT TO THE PASSING OF THE WRITTEN TEST WITH A SCORE OF AT LEAST OF 27/30.

HONORS ARE GRANTED TO STUDENTS SHOWING A FULL MASTERY OF THEORETICAL AND APPLICATION CONTENTS OF THE COURSE.
