Objectives
THE COURSE WILL BE FOCUSED ON THE FOUNDATIONAL AND ADVANCED METHODOLOGIES, TECHNOLOGICAL FRAMEWORKS, AND MODELS OF SITUATION AWARENESS APPLIED TO COMPLEX DOMAIN, SUCH AS CYBER CONFLICT.

KNOWLEDGE:
THE STUDENTS WILL LEARN THE MAIN PROBLEMS, ARCHITECTURAL MODELS, AND FUNCTIONALITIES OF SYSTEMS BASED ON SITUATION AWARENESS IN SEVERAL APPLICATION DOMAINS AND WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON CYBER CONFLICT. THE STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT MODELS (E.G., ENDSLEY), DESIGN TECHNIQUES (E.G., GOAL-DIRECTED TASK ANALYSIS), AND COMPUTATIONAL METHODS FOR HUMAN-AIDED SITUATION AWARENESS SYSTEMS (E.G., SEMANTIC MODELING/REASONING, FORMAL CONCEPT ANALYSIS, ROUGH SET, ETC.). THE COURSE WILL ALSO FOCUS ON THE CONCEPT OF "RESILIENCE" APPLIED TO DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE.

SKILLS:
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO DESIGN AND BUILD SOFTWARE SYSTEMS BASED ON SITUATIONAL AWARENESS IN DIFFERENT DOMAINS, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO CYBER CONFLICT.
STUDENTS WILL DEVELOP SKILLS IN GROUP WORK AND WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE MOST APPROPRIATE STRATEGIES FOR DESIGNING AND IMPLEMENTING SYSTEMS THAT BEST APPLY SITUATIONAL AWARENESS MODELS AND METHODOLOGIES BY APPLYING APPROPRIATE COMPUTATIONAL METHODS FOR PERCEPTION, COMPREHENSION AND PROJECTION OF "SITUATIONS "EVEN IN THE PRESENCE OF BIG DATA AND REAL-TIME PROCESSING.
Prerequisites
FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE AFOREMENTIONED GOALS, KNOWLEDGE OF AT LEAST ONE PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE (JAVA, C, C++, PYTHON) AND ALGORITHMS AND BASIC DATA STRUCTURES IS REQUIRED.

THE COURSE IS COMPOSED OF THE FOLLOWING THREE MAIN PARTS:

1) MODELS AND METHODOLOGIES THAT GUIDE THE DEFINITION OF A SYSTEM-BASED SYSTEM OF AWARENESS (E.G., TARGET-DRIVEN TASK ANALYSIS);
2) COMPUTATIONAL METHODS FOR PERCEPTION, UNDERSTANDING, AND PROJECTION OF SITUATIONS (E.G., SEMANTIC MODELING, SEMANTIC REASONING, FORMAL CONCEPT ANALYSIS, ROUGH SET, ETC.)
3) ANALYSIS OF CYBER WAR SCENARIOS, CYBER SECURITY, DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE RESILIENCE, ETC.
Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING ACTIVITIES WILL BE DIVIDED INTO LECTURES (AIDED BY MULTIMEDIA MATERIAL) AND DISCUSSIONS RELATED TO THE DEFINITION OF PROJECT WORK PROPOSALS AND REALIZATION APPROACHES.
Verification of learning
THE EVALUATION WILL BE CARRIED OUT BY MEANS OF A 40 MINUTES DISCUSSION (FOR EACH STUDENT) ON BOTH ALL THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND THE ASSIGNED PROJECT WORK (PRESENTATION AND Q/A SESSION). STUDENTS WILL BE EVALUATED BY USING A SCALE OF 30.
