KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION CAPABILITY: THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF EVENTS AND ISSUES OF OUR TIME, STARTING FROM METHODOLOGY PRESUPPOSITIONS, IN ORDER TO ALLOW THE STUDENTS THE FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONTEMPORARY FRAMEWORK AFTER THE RECENT CHANGES IN THE INTERNATIONAL GEO-POLITICAL SCENARIOS . THIS APPROACH ASSUMES A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN OUTLINES OF GEOGRAPHICAL REGIONS OF THE GLOBE. COMPREHENSION CAPABILITY IN APPLICATION: ANOTHER AIM IS TO HELP THE STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE THE USEFUL TOOLS AND SKILLS FOR A GOOD APPLICATION IN THE VARIOUS WORKING CONTEXTS (EVEN IN THE SCHOOL WORLD), AND TO DEVELOP AN OWN KEY OF INTERPRETATION. INDIPENDENT JUDGEMENT: IT ALSO HELPS TO SEIZE THE CORRELATION CAUSE AND EFFECT OF CERTAIN GEOGRAPHIC PHENOMENA, TO READ THE SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL EVENTS AND TO FORMULATE A SELF-MOTIVATED JUDGEMENT. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: THE REFLECTION ON THE RECENT THEMES AND EVENTS WILL ALLOW THE STUDENTS TO COMMUNICATE, TO THE OTHER STUDENTS AND TO THE TEACHER, THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGES AND TO INSERT THEMSELF IN A GEOHISTORICAL QUAESTIO. LEARNING ABILITY: THE ULTIMATE PURPOSE OF THE COURSE IS TO DEVELOP IN THOSE STUDENTS THE LEARNING ABILITIES NEEDED TO ACCESS THE ADVANCED DEGREES OF STUDY (DOCTORAL RESEARCH SPECIALIZATION COURSES, ETC.). |

THE PROGRAM WANTS TO IMPROVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN PROBLEMS AND OF THE CONTINUE SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL TRANSFORMATIONS, AND TO PROVIDE AN OVERVIEW OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AND OF ITS PROCESS OF INTEGRATION WITH ALL THE LAST CHANGES OCCURRING IN THE INTERNATIONAL SCENARIO. IT ALSO FOCUSES ON THE CLOSE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HUMANS AND THE ENVIRONMENT AND ON THE IMPACT OF HUMAN ECOSYSTEM, AND HELPS THE STUDENTS TO FIND A PROPER INTERPRETATION KEY FOR SOME OF THE MANY PROBLEMS THAT REFERS TO THE ECOLOGICAL INTEGRITY OF THE PLANET AND THE SURVIVAL OF HUMANITY. |
