Objectives
THE COURSE IS AIMED PRIMARILY AT PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH GENERAL AND ES-SENTIAL COORDINATES FOR THE KNOWLEDGE AND THE INTERPRETATION OF WORLD-HISTORICAL AGE MODERN PHENOMENA. IN THIS SENSE, THE CRITICAL, PERSONAL AND SELECTIVE STUDY OF A VALID MODERN HISTORY MANUAL FOR SCHOOLS IS INDISPEN-SABLE. PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE GIVEN TO LARGE STRUCTURAL AND LONG PERIODS PHENOMENA, TO POLITICAL-IDEOLOGICAL AND RELIGIOUS CORRENTS, TO INSTITUTIONAL CARACTERS OF STATES AND OF POLITICAL REGIMES, TO POWER POLITICS, TO EPOCH-MAKING CHANGES DERIVING FROM INDUSTRY REVOLUTION AND FRENCH REVOLUTION. STUDENTS HAVE ALSO TO DELVE INTO THE HISTORICAL EVENTS OF FEUDALITY AND CHURCH IN THE TWO SICILIES IN THE MODERN AGE.
Prerequisites
BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF MEDIEVAL HISTORY AND PROCESSES OF THE FORMATION OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY HISTORY.

STUDENTS HAVE ALSO TO DELVE INTO THE HISTORICAL AND POLITICAL EVENTS IN SOUTHERN ITALY IN THE CRUCIAL PHASE OF THE FRENCH DECADE 1806-1815.
