Objectives
THE COURSE IS AIMED PRIMARILY AT PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH GENERAL AND ESSENTIAL COORDINATES FOR THE KNOWLEDGE AND THE INTERPRETATION OF WORLD-HISTORICAL AGE MODERN PHENOMENA. IN THIS SENSE, THE CRITICAL, PERSONAL AND SELECTIVE STUDY OF A VALID MODERN HISTORY MANUAL FOR SCHOOLS IS INDISPENSABLE. PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE GIVEN TO LARGE STRUCTURAL AND LONG PERIODS PHENOMENA, TO POLITICAL-IDEOLOGICAL AND RELIGIOUS CORRENTS, TO INSTITUTIONAL CARACTERS OF STATES AND OF POLITICAL REGIMES, TO POWER POLITICS, TO EPOCH-MAKING CHANGES DERIVING FROM INDUSTRY REVOLUTION AND FRENCH REVOLUTION. STUDENTS HAVE ALSO TO DELVE INTO THE HISTORICAL EVENTS OF FEUDALITY AND CHURCH IN THE TWO SICILIES IN THE MODERN AGE.
