Objectives
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE TEACHING IS INTENDED TO PROVIDE AN APPROPRIATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE LINGUISTIC STRUCTURES OF LATIN LANGUAGE (PHONETICS, MORPHOLOGY, SYNTAX) AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND TEXTS BOTH WITH REGARD TO THEIR FORMAL STRUCTURES AND TO THE VARIED COMPLEXITY OF THEIR CONTENT.

CAPACITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE TEACHING IS INTENDED TO DEVELOP IN THE STUDENTS THE CRITICAL APPROACH CAPACITY, HISTORICALLY CONSISTENT AND SCIENTIFICALLY BASED, TO LATIN TEXTS OF DIFFERENT KINDS, AND AT THE SAME TIME, THE HISTORICAL CONSIDERATION AND THE CAPACITY OF ANALYSIS OF ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS AND CAPITAL ASPECTS OF THE EUROPEAN CIVILITY AND CULTURAL HERITAGE, ALSO COMPARED WITH OTHER CULTURES. WELL CONNECTED TO THIS IS THE TARGET OF DEVELOPING THE CAPACITY TO EXHIBIT THE ARGUMENTS IN CLEAR AND EFFECTIVE MANNER, AND TO CARRY OUT A COHERENT CRITICAL DISCUSSION.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE OF PROSODY, MORPHOLOGY AND LATIN SYNTAX; GENERAL NOTES OF ROMAN HISTORY, WITH PARTICULAR CONCERN OF CHRONOLOGY AND CONTESTS IN WHICH THE AUTHORS AND THEIR WORKS ARE INSERTED

THE PROGRAM IS ARTICULATED IN THIS WAY:
1) SUMMARY OF HISTORY OF LATIN LITERATURE, FOR ASPECTS, THEMES AND GENERAL PROBLEMS. SUMMARY, IN HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE, OF THE ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE OF PHONETICS, MORPHOLOGY, SYNTAX, PROSODY, METRIC. A SURVEY OF THE HISTORY OF THE MANUSCRIPT TRADITION OF THE MAIN LATIN AUTHORS.
2) CATULLUS AND THE EPYLLION
3) LIVY AND THE ROMAN HISTORIOGRAPHY
4) LUCAN AND THE TRADITION OF LATIN EPIC POETRY
LESSONS WILL BE INTEGRATED WITH:
A) THE STUDY OF AN ORGANIC SUMMARY OF HISTORY OF LATIN LITERATURE, WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE MOST IMPORTANT AUTHORS (ENNIUS, NEVIUS, LUCILIUS, PLAUTUS, TERENCE, CAESAR, CICERO, VARRO, SALLUST, LUCRETIUS, CATULL, VIRGIL, HORACE, TIBULLO PROPERCE, OVID, PETRONIUS, SENECA, PERSIUS, LUCAN, VALERIUS FLACCUS, STATIUS, SILIUS ITALICUS, QUINTILIAN, JUVENAL, MARTIAL, TACITUS, SUETONIUS, APULEIUS, AMMIANUS MARCELLIN, CLAUDIAN, MINUCIUS, LACTANTIUS, AMBROSIUS, JEROME, AUGUSTIN)
AND TO THE HISTORICAL SUMMARY OF THE DIFFERENT AGES

1) IN ITINERE, THROUGH DIRECT AND ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT OF STUDENTS DURING LESSONS AND VERIFICATION WRITTEN TO ASSESS THE ASSEMBLY LEVEL OF THE TOPIC STUDIED IN THE COURSE .
2) ORAL EXAMINATION CONDUCTED BY VERIFICATION OF:
A) KNOWLEDGE OF THE LATIN LITERARY HISTORY, AND ITS MOST IMPORTANT AUTHORS;
B) CAPACITY OF CORRECT READING, TRANSLATION AND COMMENT OF LATIN TEXTS
C) KNOWLEDGE OF LATIN LANGUAGE, RECOGNIZING AND ANALYZING ITS FUNDAMENTAL FORMS AND STRUCTURES; POSSESSION OF TECHNICAL LANGUAGE AND METHODOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS; CORRECTNESS AND ACCURACY OF LANGUAGE.
