Objectives
THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH A BASIC KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE MAIN THEORETICAL ELEMENTS OF THE DISCIPLINE IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO ORIENT THEMSELVES IN THE WRITTEN SOURCES AND RELATIVE PLACES OF CONSERVATION.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
1. KNOW HOW TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE OF GREEK AND LATIN TEXTS AND THEIR TRADITION
2. ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND DISCUSS, WITH CORRECT TERMINOLOGY, PHILOLOGICAL PROBLEMS
3. ACQUIRING THE BASICS OF AN ECLECTIC AND VERSATILE COGNITIVE ABILITY
4. ABILITY TO INTERACT WITH THE CONTRIBUTION OF CONTIGUOUS DISCIPLINARY AREAS.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF PROSODY AND MORPHOSYNTAX OF GREEK AND LATIN LANGUAGES.

THE PROGRAM AIMS TO SHOW:
1. MODES OF TRANSMISSION OF GREEK AND LATIN TEXTS
2. CRITERIA AND THE METHOD OF TEXTUAL CRITICISM
3. PROCESS OF TRAINING AND TECHNIQUE OF THE CRITICAL EDITION (WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE PREPARATION OF THE CRITICAL APPARATUS)
4. MODE OF EXEGESIS
5. TEXTUAL CRITICISM AND EXEGESIS OF GREEK AND LATIN TEXTS (HOMER, SAPPHO, ALCAEUS, CATULLUS, HORATIUS).
Teaching Methods
DURING THE COURSE, IN ADDITION TO TEACHER'S LECTURES, WILL BE PROPOSED EXERCISES AND SHORT DISCUSSIONS ON THE TEXTS.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM WILL VERIFY THE ACQUISITION OF:
1. ABILITY TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED IN GREEK AND LATIN TEXTS AND THEIR TRADITION
2. ABILITY TO COMMENT CRITICALLY AND DISCUSS, WITH CORRECT TERMINOLOGY, PHYLOGICAL PROBLEMS
3. ABILITY TO INTERACT WITH THE CONTRIBUTION OF CONTIGUOUS DISCIPLINARY AREAS.
THE ORAL EXAM WILL TAKE THE FORM OF AN OPEN AND INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE
