Objectives
TEACHING HAS THE OBJECTIVE TO PROVIDE THE CONCEPTUAL AND METHODOLOGICAL INSTRUMENTS OF HUMAN GEOGRAPHY TO STUDENTS, FUNCTIONAL TO THE TERRITORY ANALYSIS, PROMOTING, AT THE SAME TIME, THE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS OF GEOGRAPHY (ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS -ECONOMIC), WITH REFERENCE TO THE EUROPEAN AND GLOBAL CONTEXT.
IN PARTICULAR, THE TEACHING INTENDS:
- PROVIDE A DEEP KNOWLEDGE OF THE GEOPOLITIC SCENARIOS AND SOCIAL, DEMOGRAPHIC AND ECONOMIC REALITIES OF THE MAIN EMERGING MACRO-AREAS;
- ANALYZE THE POLICIES AND STRATEGIES THAT THE TERRITORIES CAN IMPLEMENT TO SUPPORT THE GLOBAL COMPETITION AND CREATE A SYSTEM OF COMPETITIVENESS INCORPORATED ON LOCAL SPECIFICITY
- DEEPENING INHERENT THEMES TO THE MOST RECENT DYNAMIC GEOPOLITIC ACTIVITIES AT EUROPEAN AND WORLD LEVEL

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
1. USE OF UPDATED TEXTBOOKS, SPECIALIZED MAGAZINES, SECTOR STUDIES AND OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS WHICH WILL BE SUBJECT TO ANALYSIS AND DEBATE;
2. USE OF METHODS AND INSTRUMENTS OF GEOGRAPHY, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE USE OF GEO-CARTOGRAPHIC LANGUAGE AND TO THE TECHNIQUES OF REPRESENTATION AND INTERPRETATION OF TERRITORIAL PHENOMENA;
3. IDENTIFICATION, PROCESSING AND INTERPRETATION OF TERRITORIAL DATA FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP WORKS.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
1. TRANSLATION OF THE ACQUIRED SKILLS IN WORKING INSTRUMENTS, WITH REFERENCE TO THE IDENTIFICATION AND CRITICAL SELECTION OF SOURCES OF INFORMATION, TO THE COLLECTION AND PROCESSING OF DATA, TO THE REALIZATION / INTERPRETATION OF GRAPHICS AND CARTOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATIONS, TO THE SYSTEMIC COMMENT OF TERRITORIAL PHENOMENA AT DIFFERENT SCALES. THE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT DURING THE LESSONS WILL ENABLE THE STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE EXPANDABLE METHODOLOGIES IN DIFFERENT OPERATIONAL CONTEXTS;
2. APPLICATION OF THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED IN A PROFESSIONAL PERSPECTIVE, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE IDENTIFICATION OF OPPORTUNITIES COMING FROM THE EUROPEAN INSTITUTIONS AS WELL AS FROM THE ECONOMIC SECTORS, ORIENTED TO LOCAL DEVELOPMENT AND INTERNATIONAL PROCESSES.
Prerequisites
1) CONSOLIDATED KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN LANGUAGE, WRITTEN AND ORAL;
2) BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF MEDIEVAL, MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY HISTORY;
3) BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF GENERAL GEOGRAPHY.

THE EXAMINATION REQUIRES THE CONDUCT OF AN ORAL TEST DURING WHICH THE STUDENT MUST DEMONSTRATE THAT THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE HAS BEEN ACQUIRED:
1. MAIN INSTRUMENTS AND LANGUAGES OF GEOGRAPHICAL ANALYSIS
2. COMPETENCE OF TOPICS EXAMINED DURING THE LESSONS, RELATED TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL, DEMOGRAPHIC AND ECONOMIC DYNAMICS OF CONTEMPORARY EUROPEAN REALITY
3. READING AND COMMENTING OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF GEOGRAPHICAL MAPS AND A SPECIFIC TOPOGRAPHIC MAP.
