Objectives
THE COURSE WILL INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO PHONETICS, PHONOLOGY AND MORPHOLOGY OF THE GERMAN LANGUAGE, TO BASIC GRAMMAR STRUCTURES AND PROVIDE THE NECESSARY TOOLS FOR ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION. BY THE END OF THE COURSE STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE IN EVERYDAY CONTEXTS, TO UNDERSTAND SHORT, SIMPLE TEXTS, TO TAKE NOTES AND WRITE SHORT MESSAGES RELATING TO MATTERS IN AREAS OF IMMEDIATE NEED. STUDENTS WILL ATTAIN THE LEVEL OF COMPETENCE THAT CORRESPONDS TO LEVEL A2 OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES.
Prerequisites
NO PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE OF GERMAN IS REQUIRED BUT A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN IS REQUIRED.
Contents
THE COURSE WILL FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:
GERMAN PHONETICS AND PHONOLOGY; BASIC GRAMMAR STRUCTURES OF THE GERMAN LANGUAGE, MAIN AND SECONDARY CLAUSES, MAIN WORD CLASSES (ARTICLE, NOUN, PRONOUN, VERB, ADJECTIVE).
Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING (9CFU) INCLUDES 45 HOURS OF LECTURES, WHICH TAKE PLACE IN THE CLASSROOM, AND PRACTICAL LANGUAGE ACTIVITIES IN LANGUAGE LABS WITH NATIVE-SPEAKER LANGUAGE EXPERTS. SELF-STUDY ACTIVITIES IN PRE-ARRANGED LANGUAGE LABS ARE ALSO RECOMMENDED.
Verification of learning
STUDENTS HAVE TO TAKE TWO WRITTEN TESTS DURING THE COURSE (TO TEST THEIR THEORY KNOWLEDGE ON THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE AND THEIR LINGUISTIC COMPETENCES) AND A FINAL ORAL EXAM. NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS HAVE TO TAKE A WRITTEN AND AN ORAL FINAL EXAM. ORAL EXAMINATION IS ONLY POSSIBILE AFTER PASSING THE WRITTEN LANGUAGE TEST(S).
