Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS, EVEN WITHOUT A CLASSICAL TRAINING, TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF ANCIENT GREEK AND LATIN DRAMATURGY, WITH CONSTANT REFERENCES ALSO TO THE THEATRICAL FORMS OF THE MODERN AGE THAT DESCENDED FROM ANCIENT FORMS.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
TO KNOW, THROUGH THE HISTORICAL-CRITICAL EVALUATION OF CONTEXTS AND PARTICULARLY SIGNIFICANT MOMENTS OF THE HISTORY OF ANCIENT THEATER, THE FUNDAMENTAL ASPECTS OF DRAMATIC MECHANISMS AND THE STRUCTURE AND RULES OF THE VARIOUS TYPES OF REPRESENTATION

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO REBUILD THE FUNDAMENTAL EVOLUTIONARY STAGES OF ANCIENT THEATER, FROM THE ARCHAIC AGE TO THE ROMAN IMPERIAL AGE, TO OFFER A CORRECT READING AND INTERPRETATION OF THEATER WORKS AND TO IDENTIFY THE MOST LARGE CUSHIONAL COUNTRY-QUARTERLY CONNECTED STATES WHO PRODUCED THEM.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- DESCRIBE THE EVOLUTIONARY STAGES OF ANCIENT THEATER IN AN AUTONOMOUS WAY AND WITH LANGUAGE PROPERTIES;
- EXPOSE WITH PROPERTY OF LANGUAGE AND CRITICAL AWARENESS THE TEXT OF AN ANCIENT TRAGEDY AND COMEDY ILLUSTRATING THE DRAMATURGICAL AND PERFORMATIVE ASPECTS.


LEARNING ABILITY
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- LEARN THE EVOLUTION OF ANCIENT THEATER, BOTH CLASSICAL AND POPULAR, ACQUIRING AWARENESS OF THE EVOLUTION IN TIME OF DRAMATIC GENRES.
- CRITICALLY ANALYZE THE TEXT OF A TRAGEDY AND AN ANCIENT COMEDY ILLUSTRATING THE DRAMATURGICAL AND PERFORMATIVE ASPECTS.

STUDENTS WILL DEAL WITH THE FUNDAMENTAL ASPECTS OF ANCIENT DRAMATIC ART THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE HISTORY OF DRAMATIC THEATER FROM THE ORIGINS OF COMEDY AND TRAGEDY, TO THEIR DEVELOPMENT AND STRUCTURING OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL PARTS OF THE DRAMA. THE THEME IN SYNCHRONY AND DIACHRONY THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE EVOLUTION OF THE MAIN DRAMATIC FORMS OVER TIME, OF THEIR INTERPRETATION IN THE ROMAN AREA AND OF THE LESS CANONIC REPRESENTATIONS IN THE ITALIAN CONTEXT (ATELLANA, MIMO, PANTOMIMA). IN ADDITION TO THE PREPARATION ON THE TEACHING MATERIAL OFFERED BY THE TEACHER AND THE STUDY OF A HISTORY OF THEATER MANUAL, THE READING OF A TRAGEDY AND A COMEDY WILL BE PROVIDED.
