Objectives
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE COURSE PROMOTES AWARENESS OF THE MAIN HISTORICAL DYNAMICS OF THE EARLY MODERN AGE TO DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO INTERPRET THE TRANSFORMATIONS AND PERMANENCE THAT CHARACTERIZE SOCIETY, WITH AN APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE AND THE RECENT HISTORIOGRAPHICAL ISSUES. THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN EVENTS, THE LIFE HABITS, THE RELATIONSHIP SYSTEMS AND THE SOCIAL ORGANIZATION BETWEEN THE 16TH AND 19TH CENTURIES, AIMS AT ACHIEVING CRITICAL AND INTERPRETATIVE SKILLS.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE ANALYSIS OF INTERCONNECTIONS AND THE EVOLUTION OF HISTORICAL EVENTS AND PHENOMENA, THE INVESTIGATION OF THE WAYS OF SOCIAL AGGREGATION, THE STUDY OF THE ROLE AND FUNCTIONS OF INSTITUTIONS IN THE MODERN AGE, AIM TO DEVELOP AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT AND ABILITY TO INTERPRET RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PAST AND PRESENT, BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES.

Contents
STARTING FROM THE ANALYSIS OF CONCEPTS, TOPICS, SOURCES AND SPECIFIC METHODS OF THE SOCIAL HISTORY, THE COURSE PROPOSES THE STUDY OF THE MAIN SOCIAL, CULTURAL, ECONOMIC AND INSTITUTIONAL ASPECTS OF ITALY IN THE EARLY MODERN AGE. POINTS OF INTEREST ARE LIVING CONDITIONS, POPULATION TRENDS, THE RELATIONSHIP OF INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES WITH ENVIRONMENT, DISASTERS AND DISEASES, THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF INSTITUTIONS SUCH AS FAMILY, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, INSTITUTES FOR CARE AND ASSISTANCE.
Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING IS BASED ON LECTURES, SUPPORTED BY THE USE OF MEDIA INSTRUMENTS AND DISCUSSIONS WITH STUDENTS.
Verification of learning
THE FINAL EXAM AIMS TO ASSESS THE ACHIEVEMENT OF OBJECTIVES OF KNOWLEDGE, APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE, CRITICAL AND ARGUMENTATIVE SKILLS. IT CONSISTS OF AN ORAL EXAM WITH QUESTIONS ON THE TOPICS ANALYZED DURING THE LESSONS AND AVAILABLE IN THE TEXTS, INTENDED TO VERIFY THE LEARNING OF THE CONTENTS, THE SKILLS OF ORIENTING IN TIME, UNDERSTANDING CONCEPTS AND LINKS BETWEEN FACTORS AND EVENTS.
