Objectives
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES:
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE A CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK ABOUT ORGANIZATION. THE TOPICS OF THE BIRTH, THE MANAGEMENT AND THE EVOLUTION ARE MEANT TO REPRESENT THE FOUNDATION OF A GENERAL THEORY OF ORGANIZATION, BEYOND THE PECULIARITIES OF THE SINGLE ORGANIZATIONS.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONS BETWEEN THE ORGANIZATIONAL VARIABLES AND THE ORGANIZATIONAL MODELS.
MAKING JUDGMENTS: THE STUDENTS WILL UNDERSTAND AND WILL VALUE WHEN ORGANIZATIONAL DIMENSIONS ARE EFFECTIVE CONSIDERING THE KIND OF BUSINESS ( OR THE NON PROFIT ACTIVITY) AND WHEN AN ORGANIZATIONAL MODEL IS EFFECTIVE CONSIDERING THE DIMENSION OF THE BUSINESS ( OR THE NON PROFIT ACTIVITY) .
COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS: THE STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE A TECHNICAL SPEECH. FURTHERMORE, THEY WILL PRESENT SHORT REPORTS AND CASE STUDIES ON SPECIFIC ISSUES DURING THE COURSE.
LEARNING SKILLS: THE STUDENTS WILL COMPREHEND THE KEYS OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS BY SIMULATING THE SETTING UP OF ORGANIZATIONAL MODELS IN DIFFERENT FIELDS AND IN DIFFERENT STAGES OF THEIR LIFE.

ORGANIZATION: A PROBLEM, A DISCIPLINE. COORDINATION MECHANISMS: PRICING AND VOTING, AUTHORITY AND AGENCY, TEAMS, NEGOTIATION, NORMS AND RULES. FORMS OF ORGANIZATION. THE CONFIGURATION OF ORGANIZATION: A GENERALIZED MODEL. THE ORGANIZATION OF WORK ANDHUMAN RESOURCES: SYSTEMS AND CONTRACTS. THE ORGANIZATION OF WORK: STRUCTURES. THE ORGANIZATION OF THE FIRM. FIRM BOUNDARIES AND INTERFIRM.

Verification of learning
FOR ACHIEVING THE LEARNING TARGETS IT IS NECESSARY TO PASS AN EXAM EVALUATED THROUGH A 30-POINT SCALE, SIMPLY DIVIDED IN TWO: NON PASSING (0 TO 17), AND PASSING GRADES (18 TO 30 CUM LAUDE) . THE EXAMINATION SHALL CONSIT OF A WRITTEN TEST WHICH HAS TO BE SUPPLEMENTED BY AN ORAL EXAMINTATION THEY CAN TAKE PLACE IN DIFFERENT DAYS. A SUCCESSFULL COMPLETION OF THE WRITTEN TEST IS CONDITION REQUIRED FOR REACHING THE ORAL STAGE. EACH OF THE TWO STAGE CAN BE PASSED WITH A MINIMUM OF 18/30. THE FINAL GRADE IS SIMPLY THE AVERAGE OF THE TWO PARTIAL RESULTS.
THE WRITTEN EXAMINATIONN , LASTING APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AND HALF, IS AIMED AT DETERMINING IN A CLEAR AND UNAMBIGUOUS MANNER THE STUDENTS’ KNOWLEDGE AND THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND BOTH THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENTS AS TARGETED IN THE PROGRAMME. FINALLY IT VERIFIES HOW THE STUDENTS CAN APPLY THE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE. THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION COMPRISES TWO PARTS.
THE FIRST PART CONSISTS OF 26 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS : 22 AMONG THEM WITH A SCORE OF 1 AND THE REMAINING 4 WITH A SCORE OF 1,5. THE QUESTIONS SEQUENCE FOLLOWS THE ORDER OF CHAPTERS IN THE TEXTBOOKS: SETS OF FOUR QUESTIONS THAT ARE WORTH, RESPECTIVELY, 1 POINT FOR THE CORRECT RESPONSE AND 1 QUESTION THAT IS WORTH 1 POINT AND HALF FOR THE CORRECT RESPONSE ARE ABOUT I)THE COORDINATION MECHANISMS RELATED TO A SINGLE DECISION II) THE COORDINATION MECHANISMS RELATED TO A COLLECTIVE DECISION III) THE CONFIGURATION OF THE ORGANIZATION IV) THE ORGANIZATION OF WORK AND HUMAN RESOURCES.
FINALLY THE LAST SET ONLY COMPRISES 4 QUESTIONS THAT ARE WORTH 1POINT FOR THE CORRECT REPONSE AND IT IS ABOUT ORGANIZATION STRUCTURES. THE POINTS FOR CORRECT RESPONSE ARE SHOWN IN SQUARE BRACKETS , AT THE END OF THE QUESTION. THERE IS NO PENALTY IN CASE OF UNCORRECT RESPONES.
AS IT IS A MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST, THE ANSWER CONSISTS IN A CROSS ON THE RESPONSE THAT IS CONSIDERED CORRECT BASED ON THE TEXTBOOK KNOWLEDGE. THE SECOND PART IS ABOUT TWO ESSAY-QUESTIONS FOCUSED ON THE FIRM BOUNDARIES AND THE INTERFIRM ORGANIZATION. THESE QUESTIONS ARE WORTH TWO POINTS AND THE RESPONSE HAVE TO RESPECT A NUMBER MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM OF LINES OF WRITING THAT IS UP TO THE NATURE OF THE TOPIC.
THE QUESTIONS ARE SIMILAR TO THOSE RESOLVED DURING THE LESSONS. COMPUTERS, TEXTS AND MOBILES ARE NOT ALLOWED DURING THE EXAMINATION.
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION IS TO VERIFY THE OVERALL KNOWLEDGE OF THE TEXTBOOK.
THE ORAL EXAMINATION, LASTING APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES,CONSISTS OF AN INTERVIEW AIMED AT DEEPENING THE CORRECT RESPONSE OF THE FIRST PART OF THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION. IN THIS WAY ONE CAN TEST STUDENTS’ KNOWLEGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND ACHIEVED, AND , AT THE SAME TIME, THE EXPERTISE IN THE FIELD.
