Objectives
Knowledge and understanding:
Students are acquaintained with a professional high level knowledge (both theorical and practical) of the European legal system. Students will also have the capacity to understand and use the hermeneutical techniques and the key concepts of the integration between the internal and the European Union jurisdiction.
Applying knowledge and understanding:
Students will have the capacity to apply knowledge through the analysis and the discussion of case law.
Making judgements:
On the grounds of their knowledge, students will develop a critical capacity. They will also be acquaintained with the problematics related to the position of EC/EU law in the Italian legal system.
Communication skills:
Students will have the capacity to represent and discuss the results of their work (also to non specialists), with complete knowledge, clarity and argomentative capacity.
Learning skills:
Students will be able to analyze the problems related to the qualification and interpretation of the European Union relevant situations. They will also have the capacity to develop their competences through the consultation of EU databases and other legislative information on the internet.

Contents
The course aims at providing the students with the knowledge of the European Union sources of law, institutions and policies. Particular attention will be paid to the application of the EU Law in the Italian legal system, taking into account the State, Regions and local competences.
The program is divided into two parts: I)European Union institutions, sources of law and principles, adaptation of the domestic jurisdiction to the EU law; II)internal market, circulation of production factors, competition, State aids, coesion funds (and other financing instruments), and other EU policies related to public companies (e.g. research and development, environment, infrastructures).
Teaching Methods
Lectures, seminars, discussion on case law.
Verification of learning
Intermediate written exam. Final oral examination. BOTH THE WRITTEN TEST, AND THE ORAL TEST ARE AIMED TO VERIFY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED DURING THE COURSE, THE ABILITY OF THINKING ON GENERAL ISSUES AND TO FIND CONCRETE SOLUTIONS TO CURRENT ISSUES IN THE LIGHT OF THE COURT OF JUSTICE CASE-LAW .
