The course aims to deepen the themes of the history of diplomacy and international geopolitics. Students will have the tools to interpret the relationships between the main international players in the light of the theories and transformations that have marked the changes on the international scene, the power and power relations of individual states and the very nature of international relations.
The field and definition of international relations with particular attention to geopolitical and geostrategic areas; Realists, utopians and hegemonic theories; Systemic theory; Decision making theories; Game theory; Evolution of thinking in international relations; International systems in history; Economic theories and models in international relations; The factors of international relations; The state actor of international relations; Strength and power of the state; International non-state actors; the new international system and the new geopolitical assets.
The course will take place through lectures to which handouts will be added.
Verification of learning
The final exam will take place orally.
