THIS COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH A COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE WHICH ALLOWS HIM/HER TO DISCUSS LINGUISTIC, SOCIO-CULTURAL AND INSTITUTIONAL ASPECTS OF SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES FROM AN ARGUMENTATIVE, NARRATIVE AND DESCRIPTIVE PERSPECTIVE. THE COURSE DEALS WITH THE ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION (EITHER OF A JOURNALISTIC NATURE OR NOT) AND ITS SUBSEQUENT CRITICAL ELABORATION TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE INFLUENCE OF THE EVOLUTION OF MASS MEDIA. OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE INCLUDE THE STUDY OF HISTORICAL, POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF LANGUAGE THROUGH THE ANALYSIS OF PIECES OF NEWS EXTRACTED FROM POPULAR NEWSPAPERS AND RADIO/TELEVISION STATIONS FROM MAJOR SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES. THE COURSE ULTIMATELY AIMS TO DEVELOP THE STUDENT’S KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORICAL, POLITICAL, LEGAL AND ECONOMIC TERMINOLOGY. THE FINAL OBJECTIVE IS THE CONSOLIDATION OF COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCES FOR B1 OR HIGHER LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES. |

THIS COURSE COVERS THE STUDY OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE WITH THE AIM OF DEVELOPING THE FOUR COMPETENCES (LISTENING, READING, SPEAKING AND WRITING) FOR B1 OR HIGHER LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES. TO UNDERSTAND AND MAKE ONESELF UNDERSTOOD IN AN ARTICULATE MANNER. TO READ PERFECTLY, TRANSLATE AND CRITICALLY ANALYSE COURSE TEXTS, BEING ABLE TO IDENTIFY GRAMMAR RULES AND SYNTAX PATTERNS APPLIED AND TO APPLY THEM AUTONOMOUSLY TO SELF-PRODUCED TEXTS OR PROMPTED EXERCISES. |

THIS IS A SEMINAR-BASED COURSE. IT AIMS TO OFFER CONTENTS THAT INTERDISCIPLINARILY ENRICH SOCIO-CULTURAL AND COMMUNICATIVE KNOWLEDGE ACCORDING TO THE STUDENT’S NEEDS. AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT SHALL BE ABLE NOT ONLY TO EXPRESS AND DEFEND IN A COMPLEX, CORRECT AND AUTONOMOUS MANNER HIS/HER OWN IDEAS REGARDING FAMILY LIFE AND COURSE TOPICS (POLITICS, HISTORY, LAW, ETC.), BUT ALSO ACCOMPLISH BASIC LINGUISTIC AND COMMUNICATIVE ACTIVITIES: SUMMARIZING, PARAPHRASING, ARGUING, ETC. |
